(I have a tournament and I have to go to Iowa

Oo there's a tournament in Iowa?  Where?
Wow, I got my dates wrong. I'm a week ahead :). (It was in Minnesota anyway). That messes up my schedule...  :(
So, Brenderic, I'll be able to play Friday and Saturday also

EDIT: Looking at the junk I brought home, I dated all my papers February 17th today..  ::)

I have to agree with Sean after seeing it happen in a game. I am not going to quit, but we need to find some way to fix this. A Haman's Plot first turn one character for no cost? It's changing the rules of the game. We need to find a way to fix it somehow either via ban or honor system ripping IMO.

Being a hypocrite, I still play HP in my decks until a rule change, but let it be known I think we should change that rule.

I still stick by my first statement: Haman's Plot online is pathetic. I refuse to lose it because I feel it is simply nooby and unfair, almost to the extent the game is no longer enjoyable. I still think we shouldn't ban it, however.

I vote if you use it, either post a video of you ripping a Haman's Plot IRL or send me $5 :)

Sean, I'm sorry you feel that way.  The few post following yours explains why I didn't ban it.  People complain about it (those same people vote to keep it) but the majority doesn't want to ban it.  We've had 2 votes and they both came up the same...keep Haman's plot.  Personally, I don't like it, but this tournament is "for the people, by the people".  I just want everyone to enjoy this substitute tourney until Jacob's ladder is back up and running.

I'm pretty sure there was more than just two votes, Honestly HP drives me Nuts in online play but eh, if you HAVE to use it against me go ahead. All it proves is my deck is good enough to involve ripping a 5 dollar card, even if you didnt have to rip it.

Hey,

The precedent for years has been that you are not required to tear a Haman's Plot when you use it in a friendly game.  The games in this "tournament" are scored and ranked, but there are no prizes for winning or placing which in my book means these are friendly games.

Requiring people to tear their plots in a setting where there is no benefit (read no potential prizes) for doing so is going to either cause people to waste their money by tearing the card or, if everyone instead decides to take it out of their deck, creates an environment that does not represent the tournament environment very well, and since I believe lots of us are here to prepare ourselves for the tournament environment that seems silly.

Now if a player includes Haman's Plot in their deck for this tournament simply because they know they won't have to tear it when that player would otherwise not use the card, then that player is taking advantage of the system and is acting somewhat unsportsmanlike.  I am willing to assume that my fellow redemption players are good sports and are not doing this.

Tschow,

Tim "Sir Nobody" Maly

Call me a jerk, but I expect a torn card every time the special ability of HP is used.  I don't care if I'm playing against a 4 year old.  If you want to use the special ability then you should use the special ability.
Jerk.

I find this extremely over-competitive.  If you were teaching a new player, and they used HP, you would make them rip it!?

+1.

I have no problem with people playing HP, I do have a problem with it not be required to be ripped.
Well that's good for you richies that have many copies and multiple decks at a time, but for decks which use it because you don't rip it, I think it is fine.  What is the problem with it?  Why make players destroy valuable cards for friendly games?  Remind me not to play you "for fun."

Many players use RTS to test decks.  By your statement, I could not even test my decks without ripping cards.  So, I could never test my decks.  I don't think you can say that you have always ripped HP in friendly and test games.  If so, that's sad.  (Send them to me if you want to destroy them so badly :P.)

Sorry if I come off a bit harsh, but I really have an issue with this... :preach:

This isn't a tournament meant to test decks, Cameron.  It's meant to be won, as any tournament is.  It's a competetive environment, and the rules should follow suit.

I, personally, will never join while this is in effect, but that's just one fish in the sea.

"HP unfair. Soul Seeker is in there. Standing at his consession. Plotting his oppresion."

 :D

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You guys all know where I stand on this. If you can't use the special ability then you can't use the special ability. I will now use Jepthah whithout discarding the top card, will use the green/silver card without removing it, and play sog and nj without discarding them. Why? Because "after you do this" abilities don't mean anything anymore. I personally LOVE double standards.

I hope this doesn't come out wrong, and I apologize if it does.  Can you guys discuss this else where and then come to me with a conclusion?  I really only want posts here to be challenges or reports of games, not a discussion of another place in my life where my decisions are coming into question and just generally fail at life.  I'm getting pretty discouraged, and I would rather try to keep Redemption (and SOT by extension) one of few "bright spots."  Things are a little heavy for me right now.  Start a thread, discuss, take a vote, and let me know.  That is all I ask.

Sorry about that. My last post was my last and basically my conclusion. I think that's setting up a double standard.

Sorry to hear that. Although I think I speak for all of us here in the SOT that it's still running smoothly, and very few people have left. Most of those people either had personal preferences(problems with RTS) or problems with HP. None of those were your problem. You took a vote, which means that more people wanted HP than didn't. Which means that anybody leaving the tournament is leaving for their own problems. This isn't enough to make me leave. I just won't use it and would like to see that in other people... but am okay if I didn't. You have made very few errors yourself and have covered up the few that you did make very smoothly. Great job!  :)
