I beat STAMP 5-0.

The draw was terrible to him. I got 3 free RA's and my KOT/Burial shut him out for the entire game.

played a game with sauce.  rts stinks.  i quit the tourney.  seriously.  i hope there's eventually a change in the rules to offset bad draws.

outta here.

Seriously? There's a reason we play. The game has randomness. That's part Of redemption and is not exclusive to rts.

A regular deck of cards is also random, but you don't find someone getting dealt a royal flush and winning everyone's money in the first draw.
This isn't wasn't happened. I had a modest hand at best, had you been able to get to 8/9 or higher I would have been helpless. You got a hand that was worse than mine, but the point is to use your skill and not rely on luck. If everything is based on luck, why do we see so many faces repeat in the top 10 at nationals? The simply fact is they can shake off a hard loss or two and continue to play to the best of their ability. They won't get frustrated and quit just because they aren't doing as well as they hoped/feel they should.

Want to know my opinion on why you didn't get a very good draw? In Redemption we want a strong deck, putting the best cards in it we can with some limits of course. I'm filling my deck with "Jacks", "Queens", "Kings", and "Aces" while your throwing in things I don't think go well in a TGT deck. Why Altar of Ahaz? Why Raiders Camp (TGT works best with Orange, Suicide, or Stand-Alone)?

Fun Fact: You only drew 1 lost soul! I had given you the Hopper, Harvest Timed you, and played SOG NJ on my own LS's

I'm sorry if anything, absolutely anything, came across as offensive, but I just don't think you should quit the entire tournament because of these reasonings.

I just beat Matthew 5-1. I happened to discard his SoG, and his FBTN offense just couldn't get by my defense's high numbers. Great game that lasted right until the end (we both had almost decked out) though! :)

Also, I challenge Soul Seeker, again! Unless you're already locked up in a game, in which case I'll have to go down the ladder a little. Only Wednesday and everyone's full!

i'll take that challenge because apparently me not showering has scared everyone off from playing me.  I didn't realize that my stench extended through the computer or it could be my highly abrasive personality.

I noticed that the top 7 people (other than me) have filled up!

I understand your frustration Stamp.  I have lost my last 5 games in a row.  I made a mistake or 2 in some of them, but I still feel like I could have won all of them with slightly different draws.  And that seems to happen a lot when I play other players who are great players with great decks.  It can be discouraging.

However, I think that the key is to return to the purpose of the game.  Fun and fellowship.  I will keep playing my 3 games each week because I enjoy playing with people.  I enjoy chatting with them during games.  I am thankful for the friendships that I have made over time.  I think that if you (and I) focus more on just having a fun time with friends, and less on winning, that the whole tournament experience will be better.

Don't quit.  Just transform :)

Bobby Fischer would more than likely have beaten me in a game of chess in minutes, but the skill level of the player is involved in that case ... But what about the player who buys a starter deck and a couple of booster packs, learns the game, builds a deck, goes to their first tournament, and through chance loses their first tournament game in three turns...
This is really about the same thing.

...The only reason I continue to play the game, besides the fun and fellowship that was mentioned earlier, is the fact that with every single opponent I have ever played I have clearly seen an increase in scriptural knowledge...
This is a great reason to play, and to keep playing.

I'll be honest, if I spent the time to set up a game of Risk and then lost in less than 5 minutes, I would put the game away for a long time.
If every game (or even most games) were like this, then I agree with you.  But if you've been playing for years and this only happens a handful of times, then is it really a good reason to quit the game?

I do think that we should try to help Redemption to make games like this less frequent (ie. my constant battle against pre-block ignore), but you can't be a light if you just curse the darkness and go home :)

Because the games he's looking for are SOT tournament games, not ones with just anyone.

actually, TL, when do you plan on being on?  I have a busy weekend (I stayed on for a long time Thursday night trying to catch you) so I need to carve some time out.
The absolute best time for me is potentially Saturday morning EST, which I will check in on before going on a lunch date with my wife.
Sunday afternoon...after a church meal but before the superbowl.....something like 2-4 pm

Highly doubtful but Saturday or Sunday evening after 10 pm EST.

Oh, bummer. I should have logged on last night, but I was trying to get through Aristotle for school. I might be able to catch you Sunday afternoon around noon PST, but other than that the best times for me are going to be evenings. Hopefully we'll be able to catch each other.
