Reasons to legitimately refuse a challenge:
       1.  You are already in a challenge (It is up to your discretion to accept an On-The-Spot challenge.)
       2.  Your season is on hold (you have to let us know ahead of time if something in life needs your attention)
       3.  You have already played 3 games in a weeks time.
I don't think that is one of the options, Mike. I don't think that you can decline just to accept some one to get more points. Otherwise that would discourage the younger players, cause they just get rejected by the older players cause they're not "good enough." I know this is not what you're saying, but that's what it will be taken as.
As a national champion, I support ReyZen deck pouches.

Actually, I agree with Mike that it is one of the options.  Whoever challenges you first is your official challenge.  Until that game is played, you should be at liberty to refuse or accept other challenges.

That being said, I plan on accepting all challenges until the final week when I plan on reserving at least one spot to challenge the top player.

Also, I just lost my challenge to FireNinja.  Not much to say about the game other than that he played well and won 5-2.

Soul Seeker,

I have a quick question about the challenges. I see that I have been challenged and they are listed under the current challenges area. I have not yet accepted any of the challenges. If the challenge has not be accepted yet, should it be listed under the current challenges area? My reason for asking is this - I may have a different agenda/strategy for my challenges that may or maynot include playing those I have been challenged by. I could see someone feeling obligated to play a listed challenge when they possibly were wanting to challenge someone further above themselves (or a scenario like that). Just some food for thought and if I have totally missed this earlier in the thread then feel free to ignore this question.   ;D

Godspeed,
Mike

I hear what you're saying and completely understand.  Let's do this then....the first challenge (I list them in order) is official and can't be refused.  The subsequent two can be refused if there is someone else you would rather play.  This is similar to what Prof. Underwood was saying and still abides by the rules.
FireNinja, I understand what you're saying too....the problem is if Godspeed or some other player doesn't get on Monday to make the challenges that they want for strategic purposes then they will get filled with other challenges which will frustrate them....OR....not get any challenges like RR (the players surrounding him are all but filled with challenges.)   People are challenging 3 at a time and it's locking some of us up.
For All:  I'm going to go back and review everybody's first name that was typed in.  Those are the official ones....that way Godspeed is freed and anybody else is freed.  Personally, I am with Prof.  I will keep all the challenges against me and the one I've made (Godspeed, I would have been upset too had I not been able to challenge Prof for the top spot.)

I actually like that. I had noticed that people were challenging more than one person at a time, and it made it hard for people who came later in the week to get challenges in (because a good amount of people were already locked in to challenges), and so I had to keep up and make all three of mine early in the week.

So my first challenge with Godspeed stands, and I'll accept Stamp's challenge. :)

I challenge Raven, STAMP, and Jannissary.

I will not make these official (in that, no one gets ghost points if they are not played) because of how late in the week it is.  However, I do want to encourage you to try and get these three games (or just 3 in general) in this week.  It will help with catch up since you've only missed a week and a half to date.

So I get another 3 games for this week? If so, then I challenge xcalebx.

No, you only get 3 games in a week.  A new week begins each Monday for 3 new games, and we're saying is that you can only challenge 1 at a time not 3 at a time.  I hope this clears things up instead of muddy them.

I had noticed that people were challenging more than one person at a time, and it made it hard for people who came later in the week to get challenges in (because a good amount of people were already locked in to challenges), and so I had to keep up and make all three of mine early in the week.

I am guilty of making multiple challenges in one post, but I also understood if they were declined, as I was simply making a challenge.  Since this tournament is by challenge and not by seeding, then I can refuse to accept a challenge. But I do like the alternative of - 1st challenge cannot be refused, subsequent challenges can be refused to give a player a chance to pursue their own stategem of getting to the top or of just playing who they would like to play.
I was by no means upset with being challenged, in fact I was honored. I just found it constrictive that I was unable to have a choice in who I may have wanted to challenge for fun, revenge, payback or kicks and giggles. I totally enjoy the tournament thus far, but wanted to air my thoughts on how it could start to sour if an acceptable alternative was not agreed upon.

Just make it so you can only have one challenge open at a time.  As soon as you complete a challenge, then you can challenge another.

I believe this was the original intention, then we incorporated the OTS (On The Spot) Challenge, which somehow ended up with players getting 3 immediate challenges to where we are now. Which is coming to an acceptable alternative for tournament challenges.  ;D  It is good to see that, once again, open communication has avoided a travesty. Yay for family talk.

Tsavong Lah, I accept your challenge, as it was first. I have a busy week ahead, but we can squeeze it in.

Godspeed,
Mike

I lost 4-5 to prof underwood
This plain reporting of the score doesn't communicate the intensely close game that we had.  The beginning of the game was all Rrulez4theSA.  He started with SoG/NJ/GoYS all in the d8.  He also attacked with Hur a couple times.  The first time I hadn't put down any defense and didn't draw any to replace what I lost, allowing a walk in.  The second time I had put down my only EC, but didn't draw any way to stop his first GE from getting rid of my lone EC.  Meanwhile, his SoG/NJ had taken away the only available LSs for me to rescue while I had several more sitting in my territory.  At that point (4-1 him) I thought the game was over.

The next battle was the most critical of the game.  I drew one EC on my next turn, which I had to put down to avoid being Hur'd again.  I also drew Unknown Nation.  He attacked with Hur again, and wouldn't you know that once again I drew no EEs to back up my one EC.  However, he was a banding guy, so I brought in 2 of his ECs to join my 1, and just hoped that he didn't have some way to kill us all and win the game.  Thankfully he didn't, and Hur finally bit the dust.

After that things turned my way.  He still didn't draw LSs for a while, but at least I drew SoG/NJ to take away 2 of my own and knowledge that I would at least get to 3.  He also couldn't seem to draw another GC, which bought me quite a bit of time.  Meanwhile through some battle challenges, I was able to do some clearing of the ECs in his territory and stealing of one of his sites for access.  This cleared the way so that when he drew a LS, his only hope to stop me was Burial, and he already had rescued the Anti-burial.

So it all came down to the final battle.  The only LS he drew limited me to attacking with only my GCs from the same book, but I went for it anyway.  I lost my site being used for site access, but thankfully had another to bring in to replace it.  He finally ran out of defense and I got the win.  But it was an epic game that I was on the edge of losing for a long time.  Rrulez4theSA played great and I look forward to getting the chance to play him again.

Hey, Tsavong Lah, are you going to be on late tonight or tomorrow afternoon or night?  Let me know when you're available and I'll try to jump on then.  I'm going to a play tonight but I should be on after 10 pm est.

(Same to FireNinja too.)
