The official week starts tomorrow.  Check the new rules about challenging and scoring.  I highlighted them to make it easier to find.  Tomorrow begins the official SOT until the end of the year.  Good luck everyone!!!  (You can still enter late, but it may be a difficult hill to climb.)

I would suggest that the point totals for each person be the sum of the previous 10 weeks.  That way if a person joins the tournament late, they could still work their way to the top in 10 weeks.  And a person who is at the top would have to keep performing well to keep their spot.

If you just have the points total indefinitely, then your people at the top will just be the people who have played the most games.

I tried to avoid the most games idea by limiting it to 3.  The sum of them may be difficult because it would seem to me to have a lot of ties.

As for Janissary, I accept.
My available times are Tonight around 10 pm, Tomorrow around 2-4 pm, and Tuesday night if we don't have our game in yet.  Let me know what's best for you.

Limiting the games to 3 a week is a good idea, however that still means that you could get up to 9 points in a week.  It also means that you could get 3 points every week even if you never win.  So after a year, a person who lost every game would still have ~150 points.  Compare that to a person who had won every game for 2 months and only has ~75 points.  Should that first person be ranked twice as high just because they have been in the tournament longer?

If on the other hand it was limited to the last 10 weeks, then the first person would have 30 points, and the new player would have ~75 points.  I don't think there would be too many ties.  What is the chance that people would have the exact same score out of the last 90 points possible?

FWIW, I agree with Prof Underwood that there should be some kind of cycle to the points system to make it more feasible for new players and to give less advantage to long timers, especially those who've been winning a lot.

Tonight around 9:30-10 I should be on, but we'll have to make sure to play fast. I need to be off by 11 or so.

Otherwise Tommorow night looks strong for me.

Played the challenge against Caleb. I was able to win 5-0, but that doesn't really say much about the game. It was a tough game. Unfortunately, Caleb was unable to draw much Offense. His defense was tough to get around also.

The unofficial rematch is currently a different story. It is an excellent game.
The unofficial rematch ended up 4-3. I locked Caleb out and his defense was too much for me to get around in the end. What a great game.

You may indeed (although hopes for my first week of the tournament with 3 wins take a big hit).

I'll probably be available for a game right after classes (4:15pm EST) on Tue-Fri.  I'll also probably be around Thur evening after 8pm EST.  I'll look forward to our game :)

STAMP and I just finished an OTS challenge. It was a fun game. His Offense was quite intimidating to look at, but he had no access to my 2 teal sites early in the game unfortunately. I was able to stall, hide my LSs and hold STAMP off. I was a bit worried about the game going long. If he could've brought his Offense into play I probably would've been sunk. I was able to slip and slide around his defense with my offense. "Negates??who plays those?"  was a qoute from STAMP. All in all a great game.
The final score for the OTS challege was 5-2 for 777Godspeed

After beating 14 different people to accumulate a record of 16-0, Mark Underwood brought my Musical Garden deck to a screaching halt tonight and won our challenge 5-2.  :)

What he didn't mention was that I only won because of the ability to play HT to pull out the 3-liner, win a ra to take half of it, and play SoG/NJ to get the other half as well as another LS for the win.  Not a very likely combo to say the least.  Another great game with Gabe.

P.S.  Jon, I think you forgot to add 1 pt from my loss to you.  Since we both had 2 wins and 1 loss this week, I think we both end up at 21 pts total.

You're right Mark, I forgot to add the 1 point...as a bonus you get 4 points for beating Gabe: 3pt W + 1 point bonus for his higher rank.

@ RR...I don't know if you caught this but you have 2 challenges to round your week off.  Stamp (who you challenged) and FireNinja (who challenged you)

As a final note, I see that the top three all beat up on each other, but ultimately Prof Underwood pulled out the win that counted.  He is guaranteed the top spot starting next week.  Congratulations!

@ Gabe..did he pull lost souls for you?   ;)
