As a final note, I see that the top three all beat up on each other, but ultimately Prof Underwood pulled out the win that counted.  He is guaranteed the top spot starting next week.  Congratulations!

So do points even really matter?  If you beat the top spot you get first even if you have less points?

@ Gabe..did he pull lost souls for you?   ;)

Not really.  I had to hopper, Harvest and Malcus for the 2 that I got.  He drew 1 the turn before a shuffle and he didn't draw another until the turn he won with SoG/NJ.

Mark has become very skilled at not drawing souls the last several times that I've played him.  That's really the best skill to master in Redemption and he has become quite good at it.  ;)

I think he knows some secret trick in RTS related to the "triple reset" that assures that.

That's what I'm thinking....no more "triple resets" for Mark!!!

He did tell me once that he was experimenting with a new guaranteed "fair" way.  Since then, I don't see his lost souls until the end.   :D

@ Gabe:  I didn't realize that if you won the quandary that I would be put in.  #1 got beat by #2 but #1 has more points than #2 (provided you win of course.)  I'm stuck on who should get it.  Maybe I'll rely on the College Basketball polls system and put the new #2 at the top.  Mostly for kicks and giggles, but points should matter.  Hmmmmmm   ???

I didn't let him do the triple reset since it was a tournament game.  :P  Nice theory though...

See the problem with that, Caleb, I haven't played Jacob's Ladder either.  So I don't know, historically, how they handle this "problem."  This SOT is my way of passing time and figuring out problems as they come up.

On another and semi-related note, I was at a presentation recently.  They were talking about a book called:  "Who moved my cheese?"   Officially, I'm a "Scurry".  I take ideas and run with them.
I'm running and jumping hurdles as they come.  This is an easy "hurdle", but I want to "jump" it the "right" way.

I'm totally cool with it if you want to put Mark at the top since he beat me.  I would suggest that we either do a points system or a ladder system and not try to combine it.

At a sanctioned Redemption tournament if you lose to the 2nd place player but still have more points you still take first place.

In a ladder system (with no points) if 2nd place beats first, the second place guy takes 1st place.

I almost like the ladder system better because it gives new players the chance to move up quicker and doesn't allow any 1 person to run away with a bunch of points and become "uncatchable".

Here's a link to the post that explains how Jacob's Ladder was run.

i was hoping to mix the two with more success.

It seems like you can't play as many games, in my opinion, on the ladder system because you're "stuck" with 1 at a time for at least 2 weeks...thus encouraging the point system.

However, the point system brings up this current problem.  Hmmm

Actually, this problem wouldn't have existed had I not made the comeback against Mark or had I beat you.   So I take full responsibility for creating this mess.

How did you like the book? I enjoyed it and it has helped me to stay focused with priorities short-term and long-term and to remain flexible.

@ Gabe. I'll think about it.   ;)

I wish that my "triple reset" system kept me from drawing LSs, however as Gabe said we didn't do it in that game.  However, I have found that there has been a more even mix of offense, defense, and other cards since doing the "triple resets".  Gone are the games where no GC is drawn for the first 10 turns.  Gone are the games where 6 of the first 8 cards are all GEs.  I hope that the future Redemption program will have a better shuffling mechanism so that "triple resets" are unnecessary.

As for who's in first place, I would lean towards Gabe keeping the top spot (assuming a win in his last game).  If he has more points, then it means that he has done better than I over the course of the month and deserves the top spot.  However, if you desire more of a ladder system, then perhaps there could be a point limit to place jumping.  For instance, if you beat someone above you and they are within 5 points of your total score, then you are ranked higher than them.  Just an idea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's all in your head that RTS doesn't shuffle correctly. But that's another discussion for another time.

I agree completely.  The triple reset is superstitious mumbo jumbo.

Actually Soul Seeker has already played his 3 games for this week.

P.S. Jon, I think Caleb should have 1 more point as his game vs. me this week is listed in my games but not in his.

@ Caleb,  Mark is right:  I'm maxed on games for this week, but you could play someone of lower ranking (you just will not get the bonus points.

@ Godspeed, The speaker just gave highlights of the book.  Personally, I haven't had the opportunity to read it yet.  I hadn't heard of it until that night.  I was going to look for it at the library the next time I went.

@ Mark, Thanks for keeping an eye on the score.  It can get daunting keeping track of the games between conversations.

Who am I supposed to be playing right now?

The first page shows that you're currently in a challenge with RR.  You can also play an "on the spot" challenge with anyone.
