Title: RTS Strategies?
Post by: lightningninja on March 15, 2009, 04:58:21 PM
Does it seem to anyone else that defensive decks seem almost impossible to use on RTS? I'll use a deck with just about no defense, and always draw enough ls generators to win. It's almost rediculous sometimes. Then I use a deck with 15 evil characters, draw barely any and only the worst enhancement. But in real life, it seems almost opposite. My defensive decks kill and my offensive decks allow walkins. I just don't get it...  ???

It's just luck. I use defense heavy decks almost all the time, and I get some pretty random draws, ranging from AWESOME to total fail.

RTS's major downfall is that when you get draws its about the same as shuffling for 30 minutes which means you have no clue what you are going to get.  :(

Hey,

I don't see how that's a downfall, that's how it is supposed to be.

So you guys don't have worse draws with defensive decks? Okay, maybe it's just me. Although it did seem like my offensive decks would always draw the right cards. For example, I believe about 12-15 out of 20 games my royalty deck drew either raider's camp or king hiram. It was bordering on rediculous. But defensive decks don't EVER draw fortresses in my experiences.

I don't know about everyone else (well...sorta ;)), but my deck always draws pretty evenly...unless I'm playing a TGT deck, in which case I will draw precisely two EC's of different brigades. ::)

EDIT: BTW Isildur, I believe it's "touche."

Well, if we're going to get all technical about it, it's "touché". ;)

You know, I think there might be an ad in there somewhere...

Anyhow, I have noticed that certain decks I use tend to draw very differently in 'virtual' vs 'physical' games. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6vbKRQsq1k)

All my decks draw odd with rts. Offensive (Yes I have offensive decks) or defensive.

Huh, the second half of my message didn't post.

I have noticed that some of my decks draw far better in reality (such as my Priests, Warriors, and Judges decks), but my Prophets and Babylonian deck does extremely well online (as Fireninja can attest to), while only so-so in reality.  I have noticed that shuffling/resetting an extra time before play helps to make the draw more natural.

As a fencer, I approve this spelling.  :P
