I created the network over a year ago so that the handful of people I talk to regularly off the boards (Red, RDT, Olijar, and Westy) would all have the ability to talk together without having to use Facebook. The name came from me always being accused of being a hipster, so it was really more of a bad joke than anything. Unfortunately, none of us live in Portland, though Westy lives in Nashville and they're sort of the same.
