how?
How did you become better? You put yourself up against people who you knew had you outgunned and you still tried to beat them. You tested what you could and couldn't do and even though you lost you did (Through very much discussion) continue and try again. If you don't try to deal with prizes then you never will be able to. You have to learn to deal with something to be victorious over it. Running just hurts you and those around you.

You want to win nationals right?  The prizes there are much more than 1 UR card.  You need to learn to have fun regardless of prizes or not. Yes I am sure everyone else in the tournament will be making sure to play their 3 games per week cuz they would like a shot at the prizes but they are playing for fun despite the chance of winning.

Hey Raven, I think you should realize one thing:
"Tournaments" always = Competition whether it involves prizes or not.
You will either enjoy (have fun) in competition or you won't (again, regardless of prizes.)
If you want fun only (no competition), then just keep an eye out on Hamachi and request games with people who you know will play you for fun.
If you still want to host a tournament, fine, but you must know that you are inviting an element of competition with it (at minimum the prize is being #1).  Competition if not kept in check within one's life can make any game not "fun".

I have become much better after playing people like Gabe, Profossor, Stamp, RR, and such. Now look at me. I'm the greatest player in the world. *totally kidding* ;)
As a national champion, I support ReyZen deck pouches.

you have to embrace an attitude that's teachable.

is calling for rematches after every loss an attitude that's teachable?
Your biggest competition is YOURSELF

If you learned from your loss? Yes. Just know in a tournament you can't do that.
