Also, will it show available targets for an ability?  For instance, if I use Philly Armorbearer, do I have to look through my whole deck, or will it show me the Phillies left in my deck?

My guess would be that it would let you look through your entire deck, but would only allow you to select a "targetable" card.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

The plan is for RedemptionLive! to know the rules of Redemption. If I pull it off, it would know what cards are targetable and would not let you make a play that is not legal.

There will also be some game play options as to how the interface shows you what it knows. For instance, in tournament play, it would likely not "gray out" illegal options or prompt you in any way with the list of valid plays. That would be tipping you off to things you might not have remembered about in a real life game. Instead it will simply block you if you try to make an illegal play. However, when all of the players agree, a game option would let RedemptionLive present you with only legal options at any given time and would prompt you for options that you have available and could choose to exercise (like would you like to capture a hero with your active Unholy Writ?).

Love the idea, but it will require a perfect data entry with no typos. That's a pretty tall order.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

That would help teach newer players how to think Redemption much better I think.

That's pretty nice, though I imagine some games would be slowed down quite a bit with the sheer number of options that would pop up... so I'm glad thats an option, not the standard.

Also, would the greying out illegal moves thing be an option as well? If not, I could see that being a bit of an issue if cards get errata'd or rules are changed, because there might be a bit of a delay between the ruling and Redemption Live being updated with the new rules. So, it'd be nice to have the option to turn the rule guides off when things like this happen.

Other than that, I too can't wait to see how this turns out.  :)

What about having a ranking system, and only the lower levels have this option? And only display like the top 5 choices recommended? That way it will help newer players, but not be in the way of advanced players? (Of course, the off/on option is good too).

absolute no to ranking systems.

Just ask Schaef how much chaos a simple "kudos" system caused.

I'd purposely bomb a few games so it reminds me to do basic stuff (stuff I always forget) when I play the top players.

I had been thinking about ways to have RedemptionLive! automatically score(rank) players based upon their performance in "official" games (tournament play plus games played for ranking, but not games for fun or for testing deck ideas). Things like the quality of the competition or measurable things that happen during a game. Do any of you have specific suggestions of formulas or measurable aspects of a game that could be used as part of a ranking system?

I'd love the idea of a ladder. You could challenge people to ranked games (separate from ROOT) and win/lose ranking points based on the outcome of the game and have a lifetime overall ranking you can compare against everyone else who plays ranked games.

I don't know of any ranking system that de-levels you.

Really? Because that's how most ranking systems I've seen work. You win, you get points. You lose, you lose points.

I would like a ranking system that doesn't just count wins vs losses only, but has a RPI/strength of schedule aspect to it. That way it's more of a level playing field for everyone.

Because we don't want, For example, #1 is #1 because he has beat #545 (0-100) 100 times.

But at the same time, #2 can't be #2 because he's 2-0 (2 total career games) vs the #3 guy.

A balanced ranking system is built with RPI/Strength of schedule and wins vs losses.

My Teams: Atlanta Braves, NY Giants, Miami Hurricanes Football, Duke Basketball, Cleveland Cavs

Orrrrrrr we could have no ranking system, which I KNOW would cause a considerable amount of problems for some people.

Believe me, that Kudos thing I mentioned before wasn't even a ranking system, but people felt a need to have higher numbers and complained about it to the point that Schaef removed it. I can only imagine the headache a legit ranking system would create.

I think a formula should be used that incorporates several different criteria:

1) Poll of all former and current tournament hosts and playgroup leaders.
2) Poll of people who do not play the game but like to write about it.
3) An average computer ranking comprised of at least three separate computer polls.

I really believe this new and innovative idea would work great to determine who's the best.

I love this idea, it works so well for college football.

I just realized I wasn't talking about the same kind of ranking system you guys are. I was talking more about having Levels. For example, you gain a certain amount of xp for each game you play based on how well you did. At a certain amount of xp (the amount increasing exponentially) you level up. You guys are talking more along the lines of tournament ranking.
