Magicians
Several Redemption® cards contain special abilities that refer to magicians. The following cards refer to magicians:
•      Burning of Magic Books (Ap), Divination (TP), King Manasseh (Di), Magic Charms (TP), and Magicians' Snakes (Di)
The following Redemption® characters are considered magicians:
•      (Good): The Magi (FF)
•      (Evil): Damsel with Spirit of Divination (TP), Enchanter (TP), Astrologers (TP), Balaam (Di), Chaldeans (P), Damsel with Spirit of Divination (Pr), Elymas (Bar-Jesus) the Sorcerer (Ap), Elymas the Sorcerer (Di), Enchanter (Pr), Jambres (Pi), Jannes (Pi), King Manasseh (Di), Laban (P), Manasseh (Pr), Pharaoh's Magicians (Pa), Simon the Magician (Ap), User of Curious Arts (TP), Users of Curious Arts (Pr), Witch of Endor (Pr), Witch of Endor (Wa), and Wizards (Pr)

The Magi (FF) are no longer "Magicians" for Redemption game-play purposes. Only Evil Characters may have the "Magician" identifier. In addition to the listed Evil Magicians, Workers with Familiar Spirits (Pr) and Laban (E/F) are "Magicians."

Quote from: REG, as defined in the rulebook
Opponent
An opponent is any other player in the game. However, the word opponent can be specific or general: “Opponent”, “your opponent’”, or “opponent's” means the other player whose character is fighting your character in battle. However, “an opponent”, “any opponent”, “one opponent”, “opponents' ”, or “each opponent” is any player in the game other than you.

Clarification:
An opponent is any other player in the game. However, the word opponent can be specific or general.  Normally, when a single opponent is indicated, the player may select any other player and target him or his cards.  “Opponents' ” or “each opponent” refer to all other players in the game.

During the Battle Phase, however, the specific “opponent”, “your opponent’”, or “opponent's” means the other player engaging you in battle.  The general “an opponent”, “any opponent”, or “one opponent” can still be selected by the player.

Palsy (Ap)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Selected human Hero in a territory is paralyzed and cannot enter battle until healed. • Play As: Disease selected human Hero in a territory. Hero ignores Hero until healed. • Identifiers: NT, Disease • Verse: Matthew 8:6 • Availability: Apostles booster packs (Uncommon)

That play as, while it may do the same thing, is completely unneeded and complicated. What was wrong with "May not enter battle until healed"?

Judah's Sin (Pa)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Choose one male Hero in opponent's territory. Hero may not enter battle until healed. • Play As: Evil Character ignores any selected male Hero in opponent's territory until healed. Treat as a poison. • Identifiers: OT, Sin • Verse: Genesis 38:15-16 • Availability: Patriarchs booster packs (Common)

This one on the other hand, COMPLETELY changes the card.

Fear of Danger (AW)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place this card on a Hero in a territory. Hero cannot enter battle until this card is removed. • Play As: Place this card on a Hero in a territory. Prevent Hero from entering battle until this card is removed. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Psalms 55:4 • Availability: Angel Wars booster packs (Common)

Consumed by Doubt (AW)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place this card on a Hero in battle. While there, Hero's special ability is negated. If Hero returns to territory without making a successful rescue, that Hero cannot enter battle until this card is removed. • Play As: Place this card on a Hero in battle. While there, negate Hero's special ability If Hero returns to territory without making a successful rescue, prevent Hero from entering battle until this card is removed. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Psalms 55:5 • Availability: Angel Wars booster packs (Common)

Why change from the original wording?

Consumed is also missing a period in the play as.

All Hope Lost and the pale green Panic Demon both still say "may not enter battle." Why did these ones change...? Can we keep some Consistency with similar SAs?  :P

Wall of Protection
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place this site in your territory. No character in your territory may be brought into battle by an opponent. • Play As: Protect characters in your territory from opponents' banding abilities. • Identifiers: Play to territory. • Verse: I Kings 9:15 • Availability: Apostles booster packs (Ultra Rare)

Play as should read: "Protect characters in your territory from opponents' banding, CTB, and side battle abilities."

Confirmed by Elder: ProfessorAlstad
It stops any action that would force a character in your opponent's territory into battle, including banding, CtB, and side battles.

Jerusalem Tower (Pa)
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: No opponent may remove a card from holder's draw pile. Draw pile may still be searched and/or shuffled. • Play As: Restrict opponents' from removing cards from holder’s deck. Deck may still be searched, revealed, and/or shuffled. • Identifiers: Play to territory. • Verse: Nehemiah 12:38 • Availability: Patriarchs booster packs (Rare)

Clarification: Jerusalem Tower is a protect, not a prevent.

Confirmed by Elder: Bryon

I see nothing in there about prevent dealing with a cards targets. Prevent simply stops another cards special ability from activating, that is all.
Great observation.  That is why, beginning after nationals, Jerusalem Tower will be ruled a protect, rather than a prevent.

JT is a prevent now, but only because that is the status quo/ how it is classified in the REG.

For some history: JT was written before the game had clarified the differences between prevent and protect.  Once those differences were made clear, we had to go back and fit all the old cards into one ability or the other.  Enoch was a problem, since he uses the word "prevented" but is actually a protect ability.  JT was also a difficult one to place, since it had "no opponent may" similar to the old wording for prevents, and it ALSO had a restriction for targets (your draw pile), which is only ever found on protects.  We chose to classify it as a prevent.  In retrospect, I don't think that was the best choice.

Since JT mentions the targets of the abilities, and says opponent can't remove them (and it doesn't even specify which abilities it supposedly prevents), we've decided to classify it as a protect.  This has a Rob stamp.  Again, it will go into effect beginning after nationals.

From the general description of Draw or Take into Hand: http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/default.htm?turl=generaldescription16.htm

This category includes all cards with a special ability that allows or directs a player to draw a card.  This category implicitly includes search.  Cards that allow cards to be exchanged with another card do not fall into this category, even though exchanged cards often can be added to your hand.  Cards that are exchanged require you to search for a card, not draw a card (see Search, Reveal, or Exchange).

Does negating draw abilities also negate search abilities then, or is this outdated?

Schobach is listed as a 2008 promo

Good catch, we are printing a new card that negates all cards from 2008... ;)

Just kidding, appreciate the thoroughness.

May band to a generic Syrian. • Identifiers: OT Male Human, King & Commander (Syria), Royalty, Fought Earthly Battle • Verse: II Samuel 10:16 • Availability: Promotional cards (2008 Local Tournament)

Incorrect entry. Shobach is a 2010 local promo.

Are there any objections to dropping the old errata and adding the identifier "limit one per territory"?

If no one objects in the next day or two, we can post this on the player side of the board.

The False Prophet sounds an awful lot like a magician, but is not listed as one.

Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

This is more of a clarification than a correction.

"Look" is it's own ability, similar, but different than "Search" abilities.  The elders have discussed this and we are in agreement.  Some players have interpreted the following passage to mean that "Look" and "Search" are the same:

Instant Special Abilities > Search, Reveal, or Exchange > General Description
Quote from: REG
You may not look at cards in any draw pile or discard pile (other than the top card of the discard pile) unless a special ability on a card allows a player to search a deck (see Beginning a Game).

We've decided to update this portion of the REG to clarify the intent:

"You may not look at cards in any draw pile or discard pile (other than the top card of the discard pile) unless a special ability allows you to search for or look at cards, or a special ability reveals a player's cards, from a deck or discard pile (see Beginning a Game)."

Cannot be negated. • Play As: Search the top X cards of deck for any one card. Holder may place it in hand. Place the rest beneath deck. The portion of the REG pertaining to set-aside cards is being updated to reflect the way Territory Class set-asides are played.

"Except for territory class enhancements, set-aside cards played outside of battle cannot target cards controlled by an opponent."

The errata for Highway, Stillness, Trust (are there others too???) needs to be updated in the REG per Bryon's announcement found here:

Quote from: Bryon
Errata: "Hero may withdraw from battle.  If no Heroes remain in battle return all good enhancements on that hero to your hand (except this one)."

Highway (Pr)
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Yellow • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Hero may withdraw from battle unharmed. All enhancement cards played may be returned to the player's hand except this one. • Errata: You may withdraw Hero. If this causes good enhancements to be discarded, you may return all to your hand instead (except this one). • Identifiers: OT, Based on Prophecy • Verse: Isaiah 35:8 • Availability: Prophets booster packs (Uncommon)
