The basic answer to this question is leadership issues. ROOT was first started a few years ago, and was run for a couple years by the original leadership of Soul Seeker, BrianGabe, and myself. After 2 years of doing it every month, we all needed a break, and so we handed the tournament over to a rotating group of leaders. In theory, this should have helped ROOT to be able to go on indefinitely.
However, as is often the case, it is difficult for others to have the same level of commitment to something that they did not personally create. Therefore, some of the leaders have not really been as dedicated to maintaining ROOT as I had hoped. Prof A has done an excellent job during his time in leadership, and have basically run things by himself for the last 6 months. However, his term just ended, and it appears that no one has picked up the baton.
I have enjoyed my time off, and currently feel more rejuvenated about Redemption. Therefore, I plan to be rejoining ROOT Leadership starting in June. At that point, you can expect that monthly tournaments will resume for at least the next 6 months after that. But for this to work long-term, some other people are going to need to step up to the plate as well.

I agree with Prof U. The last month or so of my school year was very busy, and ROOT fell low on my list of priorities. It was just too much upkeep keeping track of who didn't play their games, and who should get ghost points for it. It's a pretty easy tournament to run if everyone is committed to playing every week, but unfortunately, and probably for some good reasons, that hasn't been the case.
I am more than willing to continue being involved in ROOT leadership (even past my term), especially now that Prof U will be around to help. My apologies to those of you who were on top of things and getting games completed, but like I said, the tourney doesn't work well if too many people can't commit to playing. My hope is that now that summer's here, people will be able to be more involved.
