Time limits in ROOT

There was a poll elsewhere on the forum asking these questions, but most of the active ROOT players didn't respond.  So on the chance that it wasn't seen, I am repeating the poll here.

How long do you expect an average ROOT game to last?
(a)30min             (b)45min     (c)1hr     (d)1.5 hr     (e)2hr     (f)2.5hr     (g)3hr

Do you want a time limit in ROOT?
(a)no time limit     (b) 45min     (c)1hr     (d)1.5hr     (e)2hr     (f)2.5hr     (g)3hr

I expect a ROOT game to take and hour to an hour and a half, however I understand that they sometimes take two hours.
I'd like to see an hour and a half limit. But I guess two hours wouldn't be bad either.

As the starter of the other poll, I approve of this message (or poll in this case).

1.  D) 1 1/2 hours average depending on who I'm playing

2.  D) 1 1/2 hours should be plenty of time to add a little extra time to a typical Type 1 game.

If I played ROOT, I would go with C and C...which is why I don't play ROOT. :P

1) c
2) d - but I believe that both players should be allowed to agree to waive the time limit before the game if they both desire to play an epic 3 hour Prof Underwood style game. ;)

Hey,

I find that ROOT games tend to either take 30-45 minutes or 2-2.5 hours.

I would like to see a 1.5 or 2 hour time limit on Root games.

It's possible to have two categories in ROOT, isn't it? You could have one with a 1-hr limit and one with none, couldn't you? Or would that just be too complicated?

I don't think there's enough interest in ROOT to split the field into two groups.

You could try switching off - 1 hr limit one month, no limit the next.

Is there anyone else out there who participates in ROOT and has an opinion?

Just to update the votes so far, eliminating single vote-getters, we have:

Expected game length:
1.5 hrs - 7 votes
1.0 hrs - 6 votes
2.0 hrs - 4 votes

Desired time limit:
1.5 hrs - 7 votes
2.0 hrs - 5 votes
No limit - 3 votes

In case there are any other ROOT players who haven't voted yet...

Yes, you've been a regular Root player so your opinion matters.

D, A.

My opinion is that I don't feel a time limit is appropriate for ROOT.  It's an online tournament which inherently will take longer than a live tournament.  That being said, I do feel that (since this was brought upon by Sir Nobody/Prof U?'s game - may be wrong on the players-) that there should be certain situational rules set up.  For instance in a situation like where no one wants to take the first step, (what is it like 30 moves in chess is a stalemate or something) that a clear cut boundary is in place.  But, we are redemption players.....what's going to stop us from arguing rules?  Right?

+1  I think that we should have a rule that whoever is winning when neither player wants to play any cards for a certain number of turns, gets the win.  However, this should be discussed in the Suggestion Box thread.
