I thought the point of ROOT was participation. Why are we doing a rule change that only the person running root is enthusiastic about that is hurting participation?

I have enjoyed the rule modification greatly. I wasnt sure what kind of deck to run for the tournament so I playtested some different strategies and I think that is where the fun was for me. Of course I had a great playtest partner with Red and then we got paired up to play Round 1 tonight and I surprised him with a very standard Gardensciples deck where i decked out and played my New Cov. to put a card on the bottom and attacked with converted Uzzah to rescue against a NT LS and a tapped 2 Liner FTW!

I am really looking foward to a best 2 out of 3 with 15 card sideboard if possible.

Actually I'm not enthusiastic about this month's rule yet (not having played with it yet).  I would have been excited about the GotM rule.  However one of the fun things about ROOT is that we can try out some rule variations and actually see what they are like.  I'm may not be excited about this rule, but I'm willing to try it and hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as RTSmaniac seems to.  If other people aren't willing to give it at least a chance, then that is up to them.

Yep, we'd be glad to have you join us.  I'll get you a game as soon as possible :)

Confirmed.  It was a good game with slug, and the rule change actually did really have a lot of affect on the game.

Confirm, great game!

Rule change did little to nothing in our game. Neither player decked despite playing speedy decks due to strategically played Mayhems and Grapes.

Yeah, with only 3 pairings a week, I see no reason we can't update as soon as all our games are in.

Won my game against Red. Some crazy awesome gameplay towards the middle, but eventually slowed down to whoever ripped Sog/NJ first because of each of us locking each other out with tech.

Props: Awesome proplay by Red dropping Sam's Edict on my RBD to push a Mayhem through.
Slops: Covenant with Death. The problem with this card is it has too many absolutes. If you have an absolute, there is no room to balance or check it even in increments. The outs to this card are few and far between because of poor design.
