To all who have particpated in ROOT and were looking forward to playing this February, I apologize for the lateness. ROOT is in need of some format changes, and that fact combined with me losing my computer's power cord (which restricted my computer access) and school-related stresses, has made me unable to get started in February so far.
I have updated the rankings from January, you can find them in the Rankings Archive thread. I will work on getting prizes for the people who earned them as well. Because of the shorter time, I propose February ROOT to have the following temporary format:
In the first two weeks (February 8-20), you are allowed to play up to 6 official games, with any 6 different players you choose. Both players must agree to an official game, and if someone is already maxed at 6, then no one can play them in an official game to count. Once a score is reported, the game counts for your record, so you cannot try to replace a loss with a later win. As before, scores must be reported and confirmed by both players. Points for games will be determined as follows:
Full Win: 5 pts.
Timeout Win: 4 pts.
Tie: 3 pts.
Timeout Loss 2 pts.
Full Loss 1 pt.
With this system, there are no challenges or scheduled games (though feel free to PM other players to see if they would like to play with you), which means there are no ghost points.
In the final week (February 21-28), the top four point earners (with ties going first to head-to-head then to differential) will play Round Robin style (hopefully most everyone knows what this is) to determine places. The other participants can play, but not for official points.
Prizes for February will be as follows:
RNRS points at the district level for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (10, 5 and 3 pts if I recall correctly).
1 pack of choice (excluding Women, Warriors, TxP, Disciples) to each of the following:
-Best new player (given to the new player with the best record)
-Most Sportsmanlike (at the end of the month, I will ask for a vote by PM of which player is most sportsmanlike. The person who earns the most votes will win)
-Randomly selected from non-top 3 finishers
As I said, this format is temporary, though if people seem to like it, then it may become more permanent, with slight modifications. Let me know if you have any questions. I will update the Rules thread to reflect this.
If you would like to participate, please post here. I'm hoping for at least 10 people, though I welcome more. If there are fewer, I may reduce the number of official games accordingly. Also, feel free to comment on the format, likes/dislikes, etc. I don't plan to change the format for this month, due to time constraints, but your comments will help us provide a better tournament for the future.
