...also learned that setaside guys return during upkeep-not prep...oops

Do i get points for winning a challenge game i challenged?

This is not true and you can check the card that came with the rulebook. You add counters during upkeep, and can return heroes at any point during prep phase. Upkeep only adds counters and that's it.
*EDIT: I found out at MW Regionals from 2 different people: I am wrong. Apparently, after counters...heroes come back during upkeep. Somebody really should have made a public announcement with such a big rule change (especially when the rulebook insert says something different.)

Yes, if you issue the challenge then it is 3 game points & lost soul differential. For the challengee, it is bonus points depending on win or loss.
