Microsoft hasn't supported Windows 98 for several years now. I don't expect that other software companies will support it either. XP is reliable and cheap.

What do i do if during championship week:

I contacted a person to play a scheduled game and they say they'll get back to me but don't?

A reasonable amount of time is not given to another person to play a game?

Where is the line drawn on ghosting?

Ghosting is determined only after a tournament week has ended. It's decided on a case by case basis.

Considering your efforts and the amount of time I've seen you available on hamachi this week I don't think you have anything to worry about. Please just try to play your game if the opportunity arrises.

RTS works under windows 98. If you're not behind a router then you can even allow people to connect to your directly (hamachi is not needed to play on RTS). If you are behind a router and you're somewhat technically savvy then you can still configure it to allow people to connect to your directly.

the only person i've received any inquiry as to setting a time to play was tracer. even so, some of us have full time jobs. naturally, im usually only available late night and weekends. if holding down a full time job seems 'strange' to you, then i suppose this tournament has become even more discriminative.

Why do you turn everything into a critique of ROOT? And why do you participate in something which you find so unpleasant? I am personally glad that you are playing, and like I said, I look forward to playing you. However, your negativity is causing other people much frustration. I"m on...I just don't feel like the headache of chess chat because that would mean that i have to keep every little detail down (on paper) about your half and it would lengthen the game.
I realize your struggle with RTS but I think more of the issue of you finding a game doesn't deal with people not on but your method of play.

for you to get a 'response' from me, i would first have to receive a form of communication from you. not a single pm (boards or hamachi), email, snail-mail, etc etc. as i have said previous, tracer is the ONLY one that has inquired about a game.

i already criticize many games everyday as it is.

ben stein is kinda cool. but he has huge ears.

and complainers is not my favorite card...maybe the new gomer is.

That is interesting. I have sent you many messages this week on Hamachi. Some of them were specifically to you. Others were in the group chat room (and have been seen by other people). Your account was online, so I was under the impression that even if you weren't really at you computer, that when you returned you would have seen those. Perhaps you had exited Hamachi and left it "online", and perhaps Hamachi doesn't retrieve your messages that you missed while you had it closed. I don't know about all that stuff. I just know that it said you were there, and I sent messages for days and days. I'm sorry that you missed them somehow.

FWIW: I just recently discovered that you can't hit the "X" in the hamachi box to log off. Your really need to hit the button by your name.

i have had my hamachi online the entire week, in which case i should have received your messages. after seeing earlier that you have been 'looking for me', i thought it strange that i have not received a single message from you, sirno, or tracer on hamachi (his was through board pm). after investigating, i think i may have been experiencing the same problems as you did last week. everyone in my hamachi groups were highlighted blue instead of the normal green. after mass-pm'ing everyone online and getting no replies, i uninstalled and reinstalled hamachi. after doing this twice, it seems to have fixed the problem, as now everyone is green. however, i have lost all of my hamachi groups. i have rejoined root gold. also, there seems to be two master kchief's now...it appears hamachi did not delete my 'older' account.

my apologies for all the inconvenience.
