Title: Oct/Nov ROOT
Post by: Prof Underwood on October 22, 2012, 03:36:53 PM
This will be the next ROOT tournament for the 2012-2013 Season. If you want to join, post here, and I will give you a matchup for next week.

It wasn't pretty. Confirm.

Also, I ripped a Plot.

A quick question about the Plot rule. If I play a 154, to be accurate to the simulating checking in 3 decks, does that mean I can rip 3 more with that deck? I know the rule doesn't allow it, but to stay true to simulating an IRL tournament, I would argue it would be allowed. Also, I'm only planning on playing with two decks, and the 154 is one of them. No big deal if I can't though, I just won't play my 154.

I won 5-0 in a fun but seemingly unfair game against MitchRobStew. My 1st draw was pretty killer. I ripped a plot.

What is the time limit for ROOT?

The actual rule is that you can play plot in up to 3 games (to simulate checking in 3 decks).  So you would be able to play plots in up to 2 more games after this one.

What is the time limit for ROOT?
The standard time limit for ROOT is 2 hours, but both players can choose to play without a time limit, or a shorter time limit if they so choose.

I won 5-3 against Prof Underwood in quite the chess match.

It was so tight and interesting that we mutually decided to go beyond the 2 hours (though connection issues might have kept us under 2 hours anyway).

I greatly enjoyed the game.   :)

loss to Alex_Olijar 4-5

Not much defense character wise between the two of us as my sites held him off until he drew SoG ftw. I did not play SoG/NJ as he had no souls to rescue for three straight turns.

Hey, I am definitely interested in this. I'm pretty sure I have everything I need. I have rts, got Hamachi, made my deck etc...

I don't get to play many different people and would love to play more. I'm not sure how to connect with people though. How do you find their IP address or whatever you need to connect? Thanks for any advice/help.

It would be fine to join ROOT, however, you would need to wait on Prof Underwood to match you up in a game.  You've only missed week 1 (or 1 game) and there are a lot of great players this month to learn with.  Most (if not all) are highly experienced playing Redemption online so your first match up should be able to walk you through it.
As for connecting:  it is most common to open hamachi, join a network (typically "I'm LFG" for the one game), and click "New Game" from the RTS menu.

I confirm Red's win.  He played well.

I made a cautious play that ultimately hurt me, but in the long run Red had it won either way.  The play would have only changed the score.

Due to the forum outage knocking the first part of last week, I'm going to extend the deadline for this week by 1 day for the last 3 games to get played.  Please play each other today if you can.

_JM_ vs. MKC
RTSM vs. Prof U

Unfortunately no.  First of all, week one didn't lose 3 days to a forum outage.  Second of all, the results of that game would've changed the matchups for this past week which we can't go back and change.

Of course Dermo requested a drop for this month.  You know me better than to think that I'd just kick someone out of the tournament without a reason.  I want more people playing, not less :)
