Well, this is my last ROOT tourney because of the new rules. I would really hope you'd wait until the end of the current tourney to implement the new rules, but I'll finish one way or the other. I do need time to adjust my deck if you decide to implement them now.

If I'm not mistaken, we have two weeks left for this month not including the rest of this week. We said seven weeks, and we're on week five. Did you decide to change that? Regardless, do see a problem in letting people play by the new rules if they choose to, but if there's a disagree, default to the old rules for the rest of this month?
You are not mistaken, there are indeed 2 weeks left.  This longer than normal tourney had me confused for a bit :)

I would be ok with letting people play by the new rules if both players agree to it.  However, I think the default should be to finish this tournament with the old rules.

I agree with this.

All members of ROOT can consider this official: Play by the new rules if you want, however, the default is the old rules, if there's any dispute.

Regardless, Mayhem has been errata'd officially, so there will be no FTM's regardless of whether the players use the new rules.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

The Mayhem errata is, for all intents and purposes, considered "part of the new rules." If people choose to play without it (though this should be extremely well-established by both players before the draw), I'm going to allow that.

I don't think that's right. Mayhem has been errata'd, that's different than a new batch of rules. All it does is stop FTM, why would you be opposed to that?

Mayhem's errata was originally a rule change, until the rule change was voted down by the community. I don't imagine that many people will choose to play without the errata, but for the next two weeks of ROOT, as per Underwood and I's decision in this thread, I'm going to allow people to play without it if they so choose. If Underwood or Rob himself posts in this thread and says the errata sticks for all games, then I'll consider myself overruled, but that's the decision I'm going with.

Can you play with the errata and w/o dom cap?

Yeah, that's fine. Feel free to pick and choose which rules you want to play with, just keep in mind that starting in April, all rule changes go into effect for all the games.

I understand where Pol is coming from about the Mayhem errata.  However, I'll support Chronic's call on for the remainder of this tournament.  Since we're in the middle of a tournament, I don't feel right in forcing people to change decks in the middle of things.

At the same time, I think just about everybody hates FTM, therefore I suspect that most games both players will agree to go with the new errata :)

Oh. I don't see what the big problem was. What makes the first turn so bad to use mayhem on than any other?

I'll pitch a scenario to you. The game starts and you drew one soul, while your opponent drew two, and he opts to go first. He then proceeds to put down all but three cards from his hand into play (a few heroes, an EC or two, maybe a couple artifacts), and then ends his turn, putting down Mayhem as soon as you draw. He now has an eight card lead on you, and in the first turn of the game, an eight card lead is the difference between winning or losing a good chunk of the time.

FTM can be as much as an 11 card advantage. Besides which, instead of starting the game out with 11 cards to work with, you have only 6, meaning you not only have an card disadvantage, but a setup disadvantage as well. I have won a few games where I got FTM'd, but they're the exception. The winner of last year's nationals got 6 FTMs and none against him.

I defeated Katedid 5-3.

Confirm. I was an intersting game to say the least

EDIT: Interesting enough to note that had we decided to play by the new rules, this game would have ended as a 3-3 tie with no more available lost souls.

How did you get 14 LSs between you down to 6 exactly? burial gets rid of 2.

confirm... only because we reset the game when I had the best hand ever.
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

I can see how you could think that, but if you hadn't used your SoG/NJ on your LS's, there would have been two more LS's available for me to rescue with my SoG/NJ.
