So how long do you wait before you suspect something?

I was told that my card coming from Texas to Virginia was in the mail 10 days ago, and it has not arrived yet.  I have sent a message to the person and not received a reply.  How long do you generally wait before you suspect foul play?  I mailed away a rather valuable card in this case.

Thanks for the advice.

I've waited much longer than that for cards and I admit I have sometimes been the one who is late sending a trade. It's possible something unforseen came up for that individual and they are unable to mail the card for some reason. I would continue to send PMs every couple days until you hear from them.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

FWIW, if Guardian or David Warfield are who you were trading with, I would suspect foul play.  ;)

I say it depends. I had a trade a few weeks ago from a guy from, the state of CA, so I expected to wait at least 6 days, for the fact that I live in  VA. But if I were trading like with someone that lives in SC, then I would say I would wait about 3 days.

Just to be clear, I picked those two names because they were the first to post.  ;)

Stefferweffer, ten days is too long. Whoever they are, they need to send the cards immediately. I am a bit concerned that the general response to these issues is always "they are usually trustworthy," "this isn't like them," "I know them and I'll remind them." If we, as a community, are being too empathetic, we will eventually breed complacency and irresponsibility.

If you make a trade on these boards, then be prudent to follow through. There is no need to withhold cards from experienced traders whose references are clearly posted (as stefferweffer's are). To delay shipping for new members who have no trading experience is wise, but even then the complete turnaround is less than two weeks.

If you can't send the cards out within two weeks, then don't make trades. Some of us are counting on the cards we trade for to use in upcoming tournaments.

Thanks YMT.  I wholeheartedly agree.  The person was very prompt to reply to my accepting of the trade and giving me their address, but they have still not replied to my two messages since that time.  It's the lack of communication/explanation that frightens me the most.  Tuesday will be two weeks, after which I will give all the details for all to read and be warned.
