New to selling -- advice?

Hey Everyone,

I used to play Redemption about 8-12 years ago, but stopped when it got to be too expensive to keep up.  I have a lot of cards from the original, prophets, women, warriors, and a few of the kings (I think that was the next set) that I want to sell off.  Some are in mint condition, but some were played with for a while before I got deck sleeves (for instance a Goliath that's pretty dirty around the edges).  I know I'll have to do some cataloging to figure out what I have that's worth selling individually, but I was wondering what you guys think is the best method to sell individual cards.  I checked on Ebay recently, and saw about 50 auctions, all with 0 bids.  Would selling here be best?  How do you include shipping prices in selling?

Thanks for the help!

From what I've seen, selling individual cards is difficult unless the price is really low or it is a popular "chase" card (FA, KoT, so on).  A package deal of cards that work together is probably going to make them easier to sell.  In a down economy, it is going to be difficult to sell them.  Also, categorizing your cards is a good idea as well.  Good Luck!

yeah selling at full price will be difficult with the economy.  Three Lions Gaming is usually standard trade value. I think most people sell a little below that.

Prof Underwood will probably be posting soon with the generally accepted best methods for selling your cards.

Stay tuned!   :)

Here are some general suggestions for success at selling a large number of cards.

1.  Pull out all the Ultrarare and Promo cards that you have.  Almost all of these have a gold border around them.
2.  Check out what those cards are worth by going here www.threelionsgaming.com.
3.  Decide whether you want to sell all the cards as individuals (so individual players will buy them) or in bulk.
     a.  Individuals: set the price far below what you see at the above site if you want to sell quickly.
          1.  If a card is worth more than $10, then sell it for 75% of value
          2.  If a card is worth between $5 and $10, then sell it for 50% of value
          3.  If a card is worth less than $5, then sell it for $1
     b.  Bulk: It depends on whether you want your collection to be bought by resellers or playgroup leaders.
          1.  Resellers: set the price at around half of what the total value of the Ultrarare/Promos are and wait for offers.
          2.  Playgroup leaders: split the collection into groups of 500 card sets.  Split the Ultrarare/Promos into equal
groups so that each set gets an equal amount.  Then post the options on the forum and wait for offers.

Thanks for the advice!  I'll be looking into my collection hopefully soon, depending on a lot of other stuff going on in life right now, and get things sorted.

Does Doug still do the Three Lions site?  I was at some of the tournaments he hosted, and the first time I went to Alive Fest was just as much to hear the bands as to buy cards from him and participate in the tournament.  I remember when we were all rushing to have him sign cards because he had illustrated a few weapons enhancements.  Ah, good times  :).

Speaking of which, I do have a few autographed cards, mostly Doug Gray, but one or two from Rob Anderson as well.  I assume I should list those to sell separately, or maybe cheaper if you buy several...

Doug is actually pastoring a church now and isn't working with Redemption anymore.  Another great guy by the name of Ken Locklin now runs 3 Lions.  And your autographed cards should be listed separately as there are some people who don't want any other cards, but still want to get those :)

I agree with everything so far. Oh... and then best tip is always sell to me at low costs.  ;)
As a national champion, I support ReyZen deck pouches.

Tourniquet where you from, it's quite possible that we might have ran into each other a couple of times at Alive and etc? I was from NE Ohio, now in Columbus till July...

Good to know, Doug's a good guy.

I'm from NE Ohio.  I was at a couple of regional tournaments around 1998-2000, and the nationals in 99.  I played type II once I got a good deck together, before that closed deck once or twice.  I know I was at Loudonville at least twice, but don't remember when exactly.

Actually, to narrow down the timeline... my first tournament was hosted by Doug when the Women expansion was the latest one.  I think the Warriors came out a year later.
