Hey again everyone. In getting back into Redemption, after about 2 years of life being life, I remembered why I got started on the game and really wanted to pass that love along to the next generation.
Sooooooooooooo, after lots of thought and prayer, I will be starting a playgroup in my hometown of lynch urg, VA. I have spoken to many of the kids from my 4th and 5th grade class at church and at least half a dozen of them want to learn to play. (I have been using the cards throughout the year to illustrate different Bible stories and they love it.)
I am currently working on a letter to parents with information about the game, how it works, how it was helpful to me in becoming more familiar with the Bible and how I believe it will help their kids in the same ways. I hope to have the initial informational meeting done by the end of next month.
One thing that I really want to do, to encourage the kids in scripture memorization, is to use some of the older UR cards as motivation. If the kids can memorize the scripture verse, they will be awarded the corresponding card (rules and restrictions apply, see Jeremy for details).
I already have a vast collection of cards, but there are some specific things that would help in getting the kids started. I am willing to help with shipping if needed for the following items (donations are greatly appreciated!) :-)
Needs:
Commons and uncommons from any set Angel Wars or newer
Dominants
Lost Souls
Any older cards with gold borders (Apostles, Patriarchs, etc .....)
Any cards (even singles from FooF and ROA (to help the kids with deck building)
Starter decks if at all possible (I understand that I might need to pay for these)
Card Sleeves (I want the kids cards to last a little longer than my first deck) :-)
I am also blessed to know a former playtester who has helped me greatly with commons and uncommon from the earlier sets and who as also instrumental in renewing my love for the game.
I hope to really see these kids grow in the game, but more so, in the knowledge of the Word through the concept of the game. I also hope to be able to bring some of them to tournaments in the near future!
