Lost in the mail....

Hi,

I wanted some advice on how this is usually handled currently there is to my knowledge an envelope of cards lost to someone I sent cards and also for someone else who sent cards to me.

I was thinking about it and come to a few conclusions main one being if my cards do not eventually arrive been over a week so im saying by Wedensday I pay to have theres sent back and visa versa and just take the loss.

I am sure this does not happen often, but has happened so what to do is the question?

as would I. I waited 3 weeks for one once and finally got it and the postage showed the guy actually had sent it three weeks before  :o

I hate to be the bad guy, but I also think that some people say that things got lost in the mail when they never even sent them in the first place. I have noticed that certain people on these boards seem to lose cards in the mail often. That is more than coincidental to me.

We do have a trade references thread that I would recommend people view before making major trades with someone you have not traded successfully with before. I also would check their trade threads for comments like "cards received." I also would recommend that we all get in the habit of making those kinds of posts (rather than just PMing) so that the references can be verified quickly.

LOL.  ;D  I meant to post those on my trade thread, so people could see them as they are preparing a trade with me.  ;)

Hey,
I've traded on a secular site for another hobby I collect, and they have a stickied thread with everyone's name who has traded and you're suppose to report to it.
I'm guilty of PMing only on this site because I tend to trust those here a bit more which is why I don't put anything on the boards.  In fact, I don't even know where the thread you (YMT) are talking about is at for me to post my positive trades and purchases.
It would be probably be healthy and helpful to have that kind of stickied thread here.  I propose they make one and put it in redemption market that everyone reply to when a trade/purchase is completed.

Maybe that's why everyone stop looking at my trade threads.  I only respond in PMs.

That thread is stickied in the market place.

I've mailed hundreds of packages via the US Mail.  Literally over a thousand.  I've only had one package legitimately lost in the mail.  I have seen packages mysteriously take weeks.  It's not common but it does happen.

My experience is approximately the same. I believe out of the 2-3 thousand packages I've sent, I've only had 1-2 confirmed as truly being lost in the mail. The longest it took for a delivery one time was 3-1/2 months!

A note about posting "cards received" in peoples trade threads.  I have completed several transactions with people on these boards, but not on has posted a "cards received" confirmation.  I am am usually left in the dark as to whether they actually got their cards.  So I would be cautious about advising people to use that as their sole indicator of honesty.

How often is that list updated?  I have made several positive trades and my name is nowhere on that list.

Also a suggestion for that list:  maybe we can get a rough guestimation on how many positive trades someone has had.  That way:  we can see who is super experienced and those with only a couple good trades.  Just a thought.

I am also way behind in confirming trades and updating my good traders. I kind of think of it as, if I have a bad trade I'll report it if not resolved, good trades are just expected :P

I have gone through the trade references thread and deleted posts not pertaining to references so that it's easier to look through. I would encourage everyone to use one post (if you need an example look at Reyzen's or BrianGabe's) and edit them in order to keep the thread from getting too long.

FYI, the Post Office has an eBay store where they sell merchandise that was "lost in the mail."

Justin, I assume that the cards you sent me in September, that I hadn't received, are one of the reasons that you started this thread.  I'm happy to say the package arrived today, safe and sound, after almost three weeks in the hands of the USPS.

Thanks for being an honest and good trader!  ;D
