I am interested in learning Pokemon, Possibly Yu-Gi-Oh (SP?) and Magic (MTG) so that I can meet other players, and develop new players in the Redemption community.
my goal in getting magic/Pokemon/Yugioh cards is to obtain cards from all sets because there are groups in Florida where I live that play these type of CCG, and I'm fishing so to speak for Redemption players in central Florida, fishing might not be the right term, but consider it an analogy, I'm fishing in a pool of people that 100's to 1K+ magic players, and from a marketing standpoint if I could get a 2-4% rate of return which is a good success ratio I can develop a decent playgroup in central Florida. As a host, I'm developing new players, and am having a hard time doing that in a lot of the churches here, but I'm going to continue to research churches here as well. There are 1K+ players of Yugioh in central Florida, and there are 100's of players in central Florida for Pokemon these are the 3 biggest CCG games in central florida, so this is where I'm fishing so to speak.
I want to be able to build competitive decks over time, but I need to start somewhere, and I don't have a lot of money to sink into this so I'm willing to trade value to value on cards that I'm looking for with card of equal value in redemption. I have over 40,000 cards in Redemption that I can trade that are in mint/near mint condition. For the right deal, I may even pull cards from my 10,000+ cards in my collection (not part of my trading lot, and then I'll add that card to my trading list). And I am also willing to pick cards that have a value that I like that I don't need because I can then take that card and in turn trade it with people in those communities that are not Redemption going forward, because I will be treating these games similarly to the way I do Redemption, that being said, I get to choose cards of great value that I don't need as to whether or not I want to trade for. That's no different then Redemption as everyone here can agree to.
If you are offering me a donation of cards because I'm starting out, I appreciate any and all donations; however, I'm not making it a requirement, but donations are welcome, and maybe I can offer you something of value to cover shipping. If you are offering to sell me cards I can buy some cards since I'm starting out, but more than likely paying with real money, I'm going to undervalue the cards because I'm starting out, and don't have much money to sink into this to begin with. If you want to trade me cards, once we can mutually agree on a value for your cards or collection if you are getting rid of a collection or part of one, I will trade you value to value on mutually agreed upon value in redemption cards.
I need to learn and be able to compete with them before I can gain there trust to teach them a new game.
If you have cards that you are willing to trade, donate, (or I might possibly buy, but it would need to be cheap), please contact me on this thread only.
I am not looking to get Redemption cards on this thread, I have a different thread that's being worked on for my Redemption needs.
I am willing to trade Redemption cards to get these cards, but I need to know what you specifically have available in trade, and what you are looking for specifically. I'll consider trading cards here that I wouldn't necessarily be trading on my trade page, so I'm not listing cards available (but feel free to consult my have's list when its complete on my trade page, and keep in mind if its not on my trade page doesn't mean that I'm not willing to trade it, there are a few cards in redemption that I don't currently own, but that list is changing every day, and hopefully soon I'll own all of them, however, I'll continue to trade for card since I'm continuing to develop new players, and in a lot of cases I'm donating decks to kids that may or may not continue playing in order to make redemption a viable game within the community for kids or adults that are starting out, but just want to test the waters so to speak.
Please respond here or feel free to PM me. Thanks
Steven

I will be listing higher value cards here later today that i will put on the table in trade that may not be listed on my redemption trade page. and if I put a "*" in front of a card it means that I have multiple copies to offer.

Any way you could provide a list of what you have? Or are there too many to list?

Oh ok, thanks. I have over 50,000 cards in Redemption. when you said many, many cards, I assumed that that would be more than the 110 you listed based on the verbiage. I'll get back to you. I'm working the next three days so my time will be limited on those days.

Luke,
My redemption trade page is current for everything released after priests, except for RoA, and FooF, I'm in the process of updating them as well, it just takes time due to a collection that is over 50k cards, and I have trades currently in process as well.

Luke,
you mentioned that for the 110+ cards and 9 of them are Holofoil you could sell them to me for $25 or trade for $35
I did my research. I still am missing specifics. I need to know which release. I need to know which rarity. In some cases I need to know which color.
E-bay is not a price list like ThreeLionsGaming . com
but priceless sites for Yugioh do exist without the additional information I'm coming up with (prices in purple):
Infernal Flame Emperor $4 don't need additional information on this one $0.18
Ultimate Tyranno $2 $0.10
Toon World $2 $0.14
Kiseitai $1 $0.10
Exploder dragon $1.50 $0.37
Lord of D. x 3 $9 $0.17 x 3 = $0.51
The Flute of Summoning Dragon x 2 $8 $0.15 x 2 = $0.30
Phantom Beast of Wild Horn $2 Phantom Beast Wild-Horn don't need additional information on this one $0.20
Black Tyranno $2 $0.09
Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight x 2 $4 $0.15 x 2 = $0.30
I'm coming up with total value $2.29 if you can provide with additional information they may be more valuable. Just based on this information, although with additional information they won't go as high as $35. I'll pay $8 for the 110+ cards and 9 of them are Holofoil or I'll give you $12 in trade for them. If you are willing to give me set they were released in, rarity, and color where appropriate I can give you a better offer.
Please let me know what you want to do with the Yugioh cards.
I'll research the Pokemon collection when I get home from work today in about 8 or 9 hours. Time to leave for work. Thanks
Steven
-
Where did you get these prices from?
-
What's in the pokemon collection? I can pretty easily independently verify the value.
-
Where did you get these prices from?
I believe he said that he got the prices from eBay. I checked the Infernal Emperor one just to verify. The most recent one that sold was 35 cents (free shipping). There is a current active auction ending in 9 hours that has three of the Emperors, and it is at 50 cents ($1 shipping). So I'm not sure where his 18 cents came from, unless he is giving you half price values.
Another question, of course, is where did you get your values from LukeChips?
-
My 2 cents...
For Pokemon I would use www.trollandtoad.com
For Yu-Gi-Oh! I would use www.alterealitygames.com
For Magic I would use www.starcitygames.com
These are fairly reliable sites and tend to be middle of the road on fair prices for trading.
Obviously using E-Bay will get you the lowest comcmon denominator but for trading, consistency is more important than lowest price.

For comparison, Alter Reality Games has the Infernal Emperor valued at 38 cents, so that is pretty close to eBay.

Yugioh has the same cards at ifferent rarities. Many of my cars are the rarer versions, that is why my infernal flame emperor is more expensive

Yeah, if you are trading trollandtoad is a good pokemon site. They tend to be the highest price on the market, but they also deal in the highest quantity. Like I said, I'd be more than happy to help verify any potential prices or deals and fair on the pokemon side, because there are some weird irregularities in the market and the next set is about to drop in three weeks, so some prices are about to get messed up.
Yugioh has the same cards at ifferent rarities. Many of my cars are the rarer versions, that is why my infernal flame emperor is more expensive
You need to give him all the information then. He's been asking for it in various forms, but without it, can't properly value anything.
-
I already sent him a spreadsheet with all that info.
-
Yugioh has the same cards at ifferent rarities. Many of my cars are the rarer versions, that is why my infernal flame emperor is more expensive
Alter Reality Games has all the versions with their rarities listed. The other one I checked was the Flute of Summoning Dragon, which had about 15 different versions. However, none of them was priced higher than $1.15. You still have not explained where you got your $8 value from. Was it a website?
-
I averaged all the prices on ebay, times 3 was $8. Donr take this he wrong way, but I would like it if you would stay in your own trade. Thanks for the website.
-
I'm fairly certain he used www.tcgplayer.com, which pulls from the low/median/high values of all vendor prices and not just one independent source.
-
Sorry, but when you trade in a community it's actually everyone's business. One of the reasons this form of trading works is because we are able to self police ourselves across the board. Any time one bad trade happens, it changes every trade by discrediting the website for trading as a whole.
-
Luke, if you don't want to be picked apart and exposed to the criticism on the open forum, then just keep all of your trading in PM. Even though I have played Yugioh for over a decade and could tell all of your prices were super inflated, I decided to keep my mouth shut because it is ultimately your call and certainly no one else's place to tell you how to value your own cards. Especially considering the trade doesn't concern me. The only 'bad' trading is the one where one party gets ripped. Negotiating prices is far removed from that.
Just be aware though, there is little reason for anyone to spring for your prices if they know where to find the same card for far cheaper.
-
What MtG format do you want cards for? Magic has a much larger card base and what cards you want is very different based on what format you are building decks for.
If you have questions about MtG rules, deckbuilding, etc. I can help with that. I might have some cards to trade but again some more info about your goals would be helpful.
-
I averaged all the prices on ebay, times 3 was $8.
The ten most recent eBay sales of Flute of Summoning Dragon average around $1.30. I'm not sure why you would multiply by three since you said you had two of them.
Donr take this he wrong way, but I would like it if you would stay in your own trade.
LOL. Those who have known me since I first came to the Message Board can attest that I have always been vocal about fair trading. I certainly won't stop now for the very reason that Alex stated. Although I respect MKC and his opinion, I disagree that all trading should be kept in PM, since that is where deception can occur.
Now realize that I am not accusing you of trying to rip off whiteandgold, since neither of you seem to be using published prices. He had the Flute valued at 15 cents, which is certainly not justified by eBay prices (which is what he claimed to use). Frankly it seems like you guys will have to barter your way down/up to the published prices eventually. Having exposure to websites that reveal customary values will help expedite your negotiations. Kudos to uthminister and MKC for providing these websites. ;D
-
I'm fairly certain he used www.tcgplayer.com, which pulls from the low/median/high values of all vendor prices and not just one independent source.
All,
I did use www.tcgplayer.com because it pulls from the low/median/high values of all vendor prices and not just one independent source. That being said, Swift Gaia the Fierce Night, had at least 7 different sets it was released in, and the price fluctuates from $0.15 to $1.16 depending on which release it came from. I was not provided with release information, so i'm taking the lowest price since I haven't seen Luke's cards to know which one specifically he has. There also appears to be 5 are more rarities that are considered rare or more rare, and again, I don't know which one specifically he has.
Luke had told me that he had used eBay to price his prices.
I will respond to more on any questions here in the next few hours, just got home from work need to go run a few quick errands. Thanks
Steven

All,
Luke provided me with actual card numbers, and I now know which release they were from, and thus far we are only talking about Yugioh cards.
Luke,
you were done with the list when it was worth $35 when that came back being worth $2.29 you changed the offer, I assumed you were done with the list when it was then worth $33.60 you wanted me then to research ASAP (hence the new offer), and I got you to provide me the codes which gave me the real values, and when I gave you the value of the 30+ cards at $13 ish, you are telling me that you are not done with the list (yet another deal). So you are changing the original offer yet again. I'm not playing games with making an offer. That's why I'm willing to offer you $20 in trade final offer on Yugioh for the 110+ Yugioh 9 are holofoil cards from the original offer, or if you prefer I'll pay $10 real money which is $2 more than the last offer I made. Or, keep the Yugioh cards and we can focus on Pokemon only.
I don't favor changing a deal 2 or more times, and my offer was contingent upon research due to my lack of knowledge in the subject area, and my knowledge in the subject areas for all 3 types of cards is growing rapidly. And, I don't hold any ill will against you for changing that deal 2 or more times, because you may not realize that you were doing that, but for future reference that is what was being done. Everything is still good between you and me, I am a fair trader.
Please let me know when the list on Pokemon is complete so that I can ask questions, and then I'll do my research to determine if its worth $200, and we can go from there, and yes I agree that the full art card in Pokemon is valued at $23, but I'm not going to research Pokemon any further until you can tell me that the list on Pokemon is complete. I can then ask my questions, you can answer them, and then I'll proceed with researching prices to see if we are still at $200.
Please let me know how to proceed.

If you have questions about MtG rules, deckbuilding, etc. I can help with that. I might have some cards to trade but again some more info about your goals would be helpful.
galadgawyn,
I'm building on all formats in magic since that is one of the biggest CCG's here in central florida, and as most can attest to I play most formats in redemption currently, i'm not the highest level player in redemption, like top 5 or top ten in a category, but there are categories that I have landed for the year near the bottom of the top ten, so I am a competitive player, and I pride myself in thinking of decks outside of the box, within rules of the game. This one of the reasons why I think I place as high as I do in the first place. With Magic I'm interested in all card formats to start out with. The gaming center where I am starting to play, and I explained to them that I'm starting out and don't have a lot of money to sink into this in the beginning actually gave me a basic Jace Beleren starter deck that will teach me how to play the game that I was planning to open today so I can start learning the game. That being said though, I intend to play in 3 or 4 of the 4 formats that I've heard about in Magic over time. Please let me know what if any cards you have that you would be willing to trade for redemption cards.

So just to cover some basics:
Is that Jace deck a free 30 card deck or a duel deck, or a intro deck?
I have a pretty complete Redemption collection of +20K cards. I'm really only missing phase 2 which I haven't gotten any of yet. I've planned on getting 2 boxes worth to fill that gap but haven't yet. There are high end cards I wouldn't mind getting extra's of. How much Magic I have that will be worth trading will depend. I have about 10K with plenty of extra commons/uncommons but most of my good cards ($5-50) I want to keep. I also do have access to more cards because I work at Gem City Games.
The basic MtG formats are Vintage, Legacy, Modern, Standard and Commander. There are also many other fringe formats and casual variations. At my store, standard and Commander are by far the most popular but other stores in our area have playgroups built around the other formats. Standard and Commander seem to be the most widely played but this can vary by region. So what do people in your area play? Also, are they more casual players or very cutthroat competitive?
You probably want to avoid Vintage and Legacy which involve cards (sometimes 4 copies) that are in the $100 to $4,000 range. Modern is not quite as bad but most competitive deck lists I've seen are least several hundred. So I would recommend Standard and Commander as better starting points. You can also have decks in these formats that are hundreds or thousands of dollars but you don't have to. The thousand dollar deck will have an advantage but a $50 dollar deck can still be good and win some of the time. (I may also be biased and I have a lot more experience with these.) Between these Commander will be a little more expensive to start because it is a 100 card deck as opposed to 60 but with standard after about 1 1/2 years all the cards will rotate out and you have to keep getting new cards. This is why I focus on getting the more expensive cards for my commander decks because they stay legal and I aim for budget decks to play standard with.
So the bottom line here is that with limited starting resources it will be difficult to have a broad range of decks for multiple formats but if we could narrow down to a couple decks for a couple formats then I could put together a card pool for that at a reasonable price. If you give me some idea of what strategies and deck types appeal to you that would also help a lot. If you have no idea then I can come up with some recommendations. Again my advice here might change based on the playgroups that you would be playing with. It would also help if you could get a couple sample deck lists from them to evaluate the playing field. Most MtG players seem to be pretty open about sharing that.

galadgwyn,
This is the Jace deck a free 30 card deck. I intend to play in all formats since all formats at the gaming center near me have weekly and monthly tournaments, and I want to get to know lots of people in many different formats. That being said they told me that I could probably purchase a RDW (Red Deck Wins) deck in individual cards for about $18 if I was interested to get started. I told them that I didn't have $18 to spend at the time, but I will work towards getting or trading for it sooner than everything else.
Can I possibly trade you for a RDW deck, I'm assuming that most of the cards in that deck won't be in the $5-$50 range.
So the bottom line here is that with limited starting resources it will be difficult to have a broad range of decks for multiple formats but if we could narrow down to a couple decks for a couple formats then I could put together a card pool for that at a reasonable price. I did try to talk to them about specific decks lists, and they weren't very specific, and that being said I didn't have a lot of time during my initial consultation with them.
All of those formats do appeal to me, I'd be interested in some recommendations.
Regarding which strategies, I typically build decks that take on and destroy all strategies. But I'm not really sure where to get started other than a RDW deck. Please give me some recommendations. Thanks

That's a possibility. I need to check on availability, but first I'd like to research the rest of your Pokemon cards first. Then when we've finished determining value of what you are trading me we can figure out what I have available in total to trade for those cards. Thanks
Also, saw the PM that you resent, and sent a response.

Knoxyouthpastor,
Doing research on my end, will get back to you soon (within 24 hours hopefully maybe less). Thanks

If my brother & I travel up to one of your tournaments, we could teach you how to play MTG. That's how we started before we got saved. Its been years since we've played (10+) but we could teach you the basics.

delarosajon,
That would be awesome. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Just be aware that there have been several rule changes in that time like the legendary rule change.
Yeah, red tends to be the cheaper of the colors to use. I will work on getting some lists together.
The basic deck strategies could be grouped as: control, lock, combo, tempo and aggro which kind of describes the way the deck plays. You could also look at how the deck wins: mill (deck discard), burn (direct damage) or attack with creatures. There are also subcategories and combinations of these. For example: voltron (attack with one super creature with tons of equipment and bonuses), beatdown (attack with several large powerful creatures), or swarm (attack with tons of little creatures, usually tokens). You could also have a control mill deck, a lock mill deck, or a combo mill deck.
Regarding which strategies, I typically build decks that take on and destroy all strategies.
If I understand you correctly then that would probably be some sort of control, lock or tempo deck but these tend to be more complicated and difficult to play. I would not recommend starting there. Red, white and green are probably better colors to start in with a more attack oriented focus.
$18 is going to be a bit of challenge to work under that budget but maybe that can be expanded with more Redemption trade? I've looked at your trade page and there is not a lot of haves on it but I understand it takes time. So I would be looking for cards like KoT, Michael, FA, NJ, Samaria sites, Haman's plots, legions, hard to find promos, the early church.

I have seen some magic cards go for 1000s of dollars! MTG makes a lot of money off chase cards!

Two of the most popular RDW decks in Standard:
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-r-16512#paper (http://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-r-16512#paper)
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-boss-sligh-13156#paper (http://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-boss-sligh-13156#paper)
The first one takes about $20 to build if not less. The second is also only about $80 but is a bit better because it has a substantial amount of reach.

galadgawyn,
Complicated and difficult to play is my middle name so to speak, like I said, I like to think outside of the box. Regarding getting started, I'd like to start with a RDW deck just as a starting point. I do have a friend not on the boards that has offered to give me some cards when he has time to get me started as well, that was about two weeks ago, and I haven't received them yet, but that being said we do work together.
Master KChief,
Thanks for the input. I'll be sure to check them out in the next week. Thanks
