I misread Ashael as Asher.  Boy was I confused.

I went with Asahel. Ishimaiah+ Asahel +Benaiah is one of my favorite combos. And Joseph shouldn't have beaten Jacob.

As much as I love Asahel, he's no lynchpin, I've seen decks that could use him function alright without him.

Genesis decks on the other hand wouldn't be what they are in the current meta without Joe, so I've got to go with him.

More than that when you compare the character straight up I have to go with Joe.

Joe is protected from Martyr and Plot, and can be protected from capture with caves. He has two amazing CBN battle winners that can easily be recurred,  CotW for a massive boost of speed.  Joe can use HT if you want him to.  And he can be recurred easily.

Asahel has FBTNB, which is very very good.  He has CTB to help him get inish.  This is a good, but when you stack it against Joesph he just can't keep up.

Besides this year I'm going with who wins more LSs, and I think Joe probably wins more LSs this year than Asahel.  He just has so many recurrable CBN battle-winners and protection from CM to boot.  Add in the small numbers for init, and the green prophetness to abuse Hidden Treasures or Obadiah's Caves, and he is just awesome :)

Is that last paragraph intended to be "straight up" comparison? Every clause of it refers to how Joe interacts with other cards.

Is that a problem? Every Clause I used in regard to Asahel was in regard to how he interacted with other cards.

I can't vote for a hero who has 'hel' in his name AND is a red hero.  :P

Besides, Joseph is a prophet.  ;D

These are two of my favorite Heroes in the game, and it's really close for me, but I have to go with my bro Joe, if for no other reason than I helped design him.  :)

I just get confused with peoples' thought processes when they try to compare cards in a vacuum. They always end up comparing cards using interactions with other cards. It's impossible not to. But the people who argue that votes should be made on the "character" rather than the "deck" often use interactions against defense rather than interactions with offense. The logic seems strange to me...

No I hear what you're saying, Personally I try to look at both interactions with the defense and interactions with the offense.  Though I will admit that I've been more vocal about the interactions with the defense in the threads regarding to Daniel.  In this competition however Joe has superior interactions in regards to the offense and in regards to the defense IMO.

Asahel is a necessity to almost any Sam deck, however, a Sam deck can still function without him. One of the reasons Genesis is so good is the ability to search for (and recur) Joseph over and over again.

Since I have played with and against FBTNB and never with Gen but have played it twice(in T1) and beaten it both times I will vote for Asahel. Even though he combines two bad words.

I noticed my first point has a -3 and yet despite this Joe is still winning.

Oh well, haters gonna hate.  8)

EDIT: it's only a -2 now, but it was a -3 a minute ago honest!

Yay I'm back down to -3 now

It's up to -2 but this post has been -1ed, apparently I've caused quite a stir among the voter base!  :rollin:

Asahel is better, but this isn't about the better hero, so it doesn't matter.

If were are going to compare cards NOT based on the way they interact with other cards than this is pointless.

Who here is doing that?  My analysis included interaction and did not reference things 'in a vacuum'

BTW my last post has a -1 and the other post has a -3 along with the original post. Making a grand total of -7.

EDIT:

Now this post has a -1, the last post has a -2, the one before that has a -3, and the one before that has a -2. TOTAL = -8 8)

Joe on his own= amazing
Joe plus Genesis= 2x amazing
Joe plus Hidden Treasures + Obby's Caves + spiritual warfare + RTC +  FoJ + JBP + just about any other green/blue winner = greatest hero ever

Who else could you consider throwing into a two hero offense (the other being Job) and feeling almost indestructible?
