Asahel easy, he can band to Beniah or Ira ftw, who cares about Ishmiah negating ECs when you just negated their EC and their evil enhancements?

Also Asahel's CTB ability makes it easy to get the inish to drop bravery of David.

Asahel is a better hero in T2 by far. Ishmaiah is maybe a bit better in T1 due to the draw, but I still voted for Asahel.

Interesting. I thought this would be Ishmaiah's all the way, what with the d3, banding with Sam's buds, and meta negation.

I went Ishmaiah.

1. I'm a T1 player

2. Drawing > anything else (in T1)

3. He can use Foreign Sword

4. Banding

5. Big enough chains stop Uzzah, ect.

Drawing is the best thing ever. He can use Foreign Sword. He can still band to Asahel if you want to get to Benaiah that bad. He can stop Uzzah if he bands to one other character. Ishy all the way.

You can swap CTB instead of drawing and you'll have a case for Asahel, and honestly, there are better draw options. Asahel is a much better splash into a Samuel deck due to not needing Armorbearer.

, there are better drawing options than Ishmiah for a Sam deck. Asahel's banding is better than Ishmiah's and the CTB makes it easy to win a battle.

The one advantage I have to give Ishmiah is the ability to use Foreign Sword, but that's not that big an advantage.

How exactly does Asahel not need Armorbearer to take part in a Samuel banding chain? For that matter, what "better draw options" do Samuel decks have that are so easily integrated into a regular banding chain? I'm sure there are better draw options overall, but none that can be stuck into a FBTNB chain without being negated. Asahel's CTB ability is nice, but how many people that are playing meta defenses really put down any characters, except maybe Gomer? It's far from an auto-win ability, since you need Bravery of David (or AotL) in hand to ensure a victory using that ability. In the meantime, Ishmaiah is casually negating Sabbath Breaker and Uzzah and negating The Amalekite's Slave with a little more work. Also, saying that Foreign Sword "not that big an advantage" is just plain wrong.

KoT will sometimes be down to choose, and that works great with bravery of David.

Foreign Sword is nice, I'm not dissing it in any way but I think that Asahel's capacity to band to Beniah so easily is better. Ultimately what it comes down to me is this, Asahel is more versatile, I can use Asahel in a band or by himself, but I can only use Ishmiah in a band.

The only thing I regret about taking out my Red is Asahel. He can band to King Amaziah (who gets captured for soul gen) and then you can stick in whatever you want while having multiple characters in battle. There's a multitude of other options, but having more freedom to band is a very nice plus.

I also totally forgot that Foreign Sword says Canaanite/Philly. Whoops.

The funny thing is, I voted for Ishmaiah. I just want Asahel to have a good representation.

Well just assuming Asahel chooses a male human FBTN EC, doesn't that EC negate Asahels ability, making the EC go back to territory and the opponent then choosing which EC to block with?

CTB has been ruled to be inherently cbi. Otherwise there is a loop just like in a situation where a character, with a negatable band, bands to a btn character. Now I don't know why the loop breaker for banding in a btn character isn't the same as CTB but I think it has to do with the fact that making choose the blocker cbi is more reasonable then making banding cbi.

Oh cool I didn't think about that, so if Asahel does choose an FBTN character the FBTN character stays!
