Since there is not a whole lot known with certainty about Thad other than the fact that he was a disciple, it was decided to make Thad work well together with James the Less.  Since James the less uses an X or less, we thought we'd put one on Thad, too.  James had an X-or-less Paper (negate) ability, and Thad got the X-or-less Rock (protect) ability.

Many scholars do believe that Thad was the same person as Jude, but that is not known with certainty.  I like that "lost causes" idea for Jude, though.  I'm making a note of that right now.  :)

Thaddeus is the same person as Jude, and he is the patron saint of lost causes. He could have had a much cooler SA based on this fact, considering everything having to do with St. Jude is awesome (listen to (*fin) by Anberlin if you don't believe me).

So, in redemption gameplay terms, are these the same person?

I really liked the Disciples article on James the Less last June.  I enjoyed reading on the reasoning for making his card the way it is.  I'd REALLY like to read up on the reasoning for all the Disciples, Thad especially.  From reading the Bible, you really don't hear much about him or some of the other disciples.  (For example, why does Simon the Zealot discard Rome?  Why is Philip immune to Greeks?)  But I'm super curious on WHY Thad got his ability.

I don't know where to post this question, so I thought I'd try it here...  Maybe some playtesters have some insight they'd share?

Simon was a Zealot (opposition to Rome's occupation). Originally he discarded a Roman, but he was changed to discarding Rome instead.
