Or the fact that he literally shuts down the entire defense...

Seriously, Thad is a terrifying beast.  King David may be the best challenger for him, but Thad is simply the best purple hero there is.

You have only 3 Disciples, and you already shut down a lot of EC in use, and when you have a decent number, everything is shut down for every EC used in the meta.

What does shut everything down mean?  It means no evil banding, no evil drawing, no evil messing with any decks, no evil hitting anything in play, nothing.  That's insane.

Disciples are not about enhancements.  They are about ridiculously powerful heroes.

The current state of the vote would disagree with you. :P

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that I'd rather have a Hero that can ignore entire defenses by himself than one that can stop entire defenses only if a bunch of other ones are in play. Thad needs disciples out to be at all useful, yet disciples don't really have territory protection (other than from discard with HT and some after-the-fact utility with TNC, though I don't see people running that very often).

1. Herod's Temple is used, and is very powerful as well.
2. "Entire defenses" has been overblown this entire process.  He ignores FW, which is nice even if it is not entirely needed if you are attacking with him each turn, but it isn't like he ignores all of the meta defenses, or even the most useful ECs out there.

Also, going back to the lack of initiative or support in enhancements for Thad...I see bigger initiative problems and even less enhancement support for King David  :o  Someone will have to explain that one to me.

1. I was referring to TNC not being used, not HT, lol. Obviously people use HT. ;)
2. Entire defenses meaning he ignores Herods and Kings of Israel/Judah completely (Romans maybe? I forget if they're considered royalty). He ignores parts of a lot of other defenses as well.

I didn't speak to initiative or enhancement support so you'll have to ask someone else about that. :P

Romans are not royalty currently (nor will they be likely).

I keep hearing that he ignores all sorts of things but I'm just not seeing how substantial that is, nor how it compares to literally stopping the defense from doing anything regardless of identifier.

I know you didn't speak to those, but:

To me, KD alone is better then Thad with 4 other disciples. So Thad plus 5 extra cards beats KD for me but 5 extra cards is a lot.

Also HT versus TToD I'm taking TToD any day. (This statement is only considering the offensive impact of the fort.)

If you drew...I'm not sure why FW is the be-all-end-all right now.  Matthew should be scared of her, but not Thad.  She is also one EC.

Romans are not royalty currently (nor will they be likely).

The Governors and soldiers are obvious, but why are the Emperors not considered Royalty? They did rule an empire after all... The wiki and the REG also lists them as Royalty.

Sorry, got my definitions mixed up, because they are royalty but not kings.  That's where I mixed it up.

If you drew...I'm not sure why FW is the be-all-end-all right now.  Matthew should be scared of her, but not Thad.  She is also one EC.

Virtually all of Disciples drawing power comes in bulk, and comes before the battle phase (Pentecost, Matthew, FDC (doesn't have to be pre-block), and Fishing Boat), and Disciples needs to be constantly drawing because it's an offense that works best after some setup (getting Thad up and running). Losing a turn of drawing to take out Foreign Wives is often enough to put Disciples far enough behind that they can't recover.

In the late game, Thad is absolutely the best hero in the game; the issue is that in T1, most games are over by the time Disciples can ease off on drawing anyway. I'll concede that Thad is probably the better hero in T2, but in T1, he requires too much setup or a really lucky draw. The other issue is that Disciples simply aren't that good in T1 right now, whereas King David can be splashed into pretty much everything (and he'll fit into the best offense in the game if Simeon and/or Isaiah get musician identifiers). KD nabs it for me.
