Herod can shut down banding. Banding is one of the best abilities in the game right now. I guess I'll with him… Might have to change my vote though.

Herod is the best EC in one of the best anti-meta defenses in the game. He tutors one of the best support cards, and he can pick apart a Sam band by selecting the most defeatable character to stay. I'll probably be less upset if Cupbearer beats him than if Baker beats Salome though. Cupbearer has multiple uses, whereas Baker just draws.

Cupbearer has soul Gen but Herod the great is a total beast (plus Herod's already have soul gen in different forms). He is anti-meta to the max because of how he stops FBTNB, not to mention he fits into a theme that is almost a good as egyptians. He has so much more support than Egyptians do... For me it's no contest, Herod the Great FTW.

No, but when that EC is Herod the great you chances of blocking go up significantly.

Cupbearer is the most reliable soul gen card in the game. The only thing in the game that stops it is Blue Tassels and it works when converted. It also can pull Joseph, Jacob, or any Genesis evil character. How is this even close?

This is real close for me. Both can be real good. For me the deciding factor is that Covenant with Death stops Herod but not Cupbearer.
