This may not end up being the popular opinion but I'm going to say Proud Pharisee.

He draws, and has a couple of really good enhancements to drop with his play-first.

Sure ASA counters a lot of things, and can be really annoying, but PP gets more blocks.

+1. And Assyrians aren't really that great (in T1). Pharisees are better.

Disagree. Despite Ring Wraith's inevitable allegations to the contrary (all of his arguments will mention exotic cards like "Twice Afflicted" and "Prisoner Transfer"), I think Assyrians are better than Pharisees for a few reasons. First, use with Isaiah is really quite good. It allows you to use a handful of extra enhancements you probably wouldn't otherwise, which gives you a nice, large pool of evil enhancements to pick from without the risk of hand clog. Second, Assyrians and Magicians mesh together really well in a balanced deck, with enough room for a bit of brown splash if one is interested. Third, Pharisees have zero soul gen, while Assyrians have one of the best soul gen characters in the game. Finally, ASA is ASA. He uses his ASA powers and things die. The one advantage I feel Pharisees have over Assyrians in T1 is they have some more drawing, and even then, 2KH, when used in conjunction with Forgotten History and any other battle winners, can offer comparable speed. In T2, Assyrians are just ridiculous, and ASA is the big engine behind that. ASA gets my vote.

ASA can kill Fishing Boat.

Enough said.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

FWIW, I voted for ASA and think Assyrians are far better than Phars in T2, and T1 is very debatable.

And Twice Afflicted and Prisoner Transfer are legit.

Despite the run-away voting for this one, it is really hard for me to pick.  I can see both sides, and in the end voted for ASA, because I thought about what cards make me more afraid.  This may have been influenced by my preference for T2, but I still go ASA by a narrow margin.

I personally enjoy T1 better than T2 so the Assyrian amazingness in T2 doesn't have too much impact for me.  And although  Assyrians are good in T1 I have to say that I like the Phars better.  I would say the only real advantage that Assyrians have would be ASA.  But Phars have more drawing, and depending on the size of your pharisees defense you can actually draw quite a lot.  Both have comparable enhancements to play, and Pharisees have scribe to recur them.  What it comes down to for me is that Phars are faster and for a guy who likes to play balanced offenses that aren't as fast as Sammy and friends I have to look somewhere else to support my drawing, the option that is most appealing to me is pharisees.  (though babs can be pretty good for this too)
