Uzzah's win doesn't necessarily offer an accurate view of the current state of the game, but let's be honest here, a good chunk of competitive players are running small defenses with Uzzah. Apparently, a lot of people from the MN region are running RDT's standalone pretty religiously. That said, I think Uzzah should win regardless of whether "substantial defense" rules the meta or not. Of all the defenses in the game, only a handful actually shut down the opposing offense to win the game. Most of the rest of them simply do their best to disable an offense and stall, the same way the meta defense does. Just because the meta does it better doesn't mean anything.

The meta defense evolved out of costless, conditionless cards that work well together and pack the most punch for the fewest amount of cards used.

Uzzah - Has no theme requirement or other cost/condition to use his ability, other than an extra artifact.  If not negated, he gets a successful block every time.  Discarding himself is no real cost compared to a free block.
Gomer - Has no theme requirement or other cost/condition to use her ability.  CBN bands to about 99% of all useful ECs.
Am Slave - Has no theme requirement or other cost/condition to use his ability.  Generates a soul, plus searches for a human EC (which are used in 100% of all defenses with Am Slave in it) with no testament/gender/other restrictions on that EC.
KoT - Has no theme requirement or other cost/condition to use his ability.  Usually a free block early, and is more powerful with Gomer.
Sabbath Breaker - Has no theme requirement or other cost/condition to use his ability, other than discarding him after one block (which, again, doesn't matter to a speed player).

And 3 of the characters above are low-numbered Brown evil characters, which give them access to a Brown CBN discard-any-3-characters enhancement.

It's the meta defense, because if you could get more speed/blocks/efficiency out of a different set of 6 defensive cards, that other set of 6 would be the meta defense.

For the record, a lot of people are moving from Sabbath Breaker to Vittles, and rightly so, in my opinion.

Uzzah's win is not necessarily indicative of the current state of the game, since even those playing substantial use Uzzah, because there is just no reason not to.
This.
the word broken gets thrown around way too much around here.
I agree. Broken is reserved for Buckler.

I disagree.  Broken is reserved for:

that is deep Stamp, but that is truth right there cause Christ broke the bread at the last supper and it symbolized his body and also when he was crucified his very own physical body was beaten, battered, puylverized, and just plain broken for OUR sake so he can show us the very unconditional, unlimited, powerful love that he had for the humanity that is his precious creation and it really does make you think, how can someone as powerful as Jesus die for me just like that and endure so much pain on the cross? simple, because; HE LOVES US

Too true. The Body of Christ really should be better.
