Title: When and which artifact(s) and Territories, and Forts are best for Introduction
Post by: Adevine on April 24, 2017, 05:35:05 AM
This may be in the giant 176 page REG and if it is just let me know.  Time wise I have not had a chance to sit down and read that thing.   Anyways, obviously I am going to have them use the starter decks a few more times, but I was wondering are there some Artifacts, territories, and/or forts that are better for using to introduce the idea?  When the time comes of course.  Thanks!!

When I'm teaching my kids how to play and introduce them to artifacts (since they aren't in the I/J), I start with things like Tables of the Law, Burial Shroud, Chariots of Fire.  These are cards that extremely helpful for new players that are still trying to figure things out, but see very little play beyond young kids.  The first fortress to introduce would probably be Storehouse, as it allows your young players to not have to discard their enhancements.  I think your kids need to be introduced to sites but they are the most complicated things, because sometimes understanding "site access" isn't easy, and there is a much less chance that you will see those compared to the other two, but if they aren't prepared or know what they are, sites can hurt them very easily.

Actually you're now likely to see sites in all decks with the advent of RoJ.

Once you get enough of the RoJ cards, an Artifact I would add to both of the starter decks would be Sea o' Glass. Very useful common Artifact with a simple, easy to understand ability.

My brother and I played our first games using the G + H decks, and those were a good introduction to Sites. I'd take the approach Chris recommends.

Thanks guys!  I also looked and noticed that the new RoJ set is heavy on sites and artifacts....
