Another option your son and you have is to buy pre-constructed decks that have a variety of cards from several expansions in them, are competitive, and take away the need to spend a ton of money on booster packs in which you have no idea what cards are in them and hope you can build a viable deck out of what you get. These pre-constructed decks also offer a large discount off the actual card values (30 to 40% off), and also come with a deck box and sleeves.
