Tricky way to attack GoJ

Use Taking Egypt's Wealth to grab a GE that can target an O.T. Male Human Evil Character. Then use Stalks of Flax to grab a Hero of matching Brigade from opponent (this works best if you grab ET). Attack with the stolen Hero and if Manasseh doesn't block and you get initiative, play the stolen Enhancement. Since GoJ protects from "opponents' cards" and neither of those cards are yours, you can target Manasseh!

The sad reality is, there just aren't many ways to take care of a Gated Manasseh. Any Enhancements you play need to be pre-block, because once he enters battle, he'll string and then end the battle or play a CBN battle-winner. Pre-battle S&T, Trumpet Blast or Baptism of Jesus+AotL, SS, or ANB are currently the only methods in the game to fish him out on offense. TB/BoJ dont work if Protection of Jerusalem is up (unless you burn DD on the protecting Angels), S&T and SS are vulnerable to Torment, S&T is vulnerable to negation unless placed on Joshua or the other CBI Priest, the first three four all fail if Unsuccessful is up (barring placement on a CBN Hero), and ANB requires that you draw a way to deal with Manasseh before your opponent redraws GoJ.

There are a few additional ways to stop him. Displeased Philistines will work if your opponent doesn't have any Sites out, but that's unlikely and Philistines are awful now and would much rather use DP to clear out Nazareth (with Benedictus, naturally). Set Fire can also get rid of it, but, again, Protection of Jerusalem stops it. Probably the best way to rid yourself of the Gates is Spreading Mildew, but it requires bulk to set up.

Finally, the last avenue of redress for GoH is starting hero-on-hero side-battles where you have initiative. This makes the Good Enhancements mentioned in the second paragraph (except ANB) more viable, and also adds the option of My Lord and My God and Sons of Thunder. However, a CM or Unsuccessful will stop this strategy as well.

Which brings us to two characters: Jeremiah and The Destroyer. These are the only Heroes in the game that can Negate GoJ and take care of Manasseh before he can block. Converting Herod Agrippa II or The Tartan and then using AotL while Manasseh is vulnerable is possible, but very convoluted. These two Heroes pose the biggest threat to Manasseh. Jeremiah can Negate GoJ, then play anything to get rid of Manasseh with HT. Now, any Discards can be Tormented, and shuffles are only temporary (though they do get rid of 2KH), but Jeremiah has access to a few Converts which will take care of him more permanently (assuming Unsuccessful and/or Altar of Dagon aren't up). The Destroyer is not vulnerable to Unsuccessful, but Torment will undo him. Both of these options are also vulnerable to Gold Cow, Confusion of Mind, and Negation.

Considering that CoM, Unsuccessful, Torment, and King of Tyrus are all commonly found with Manasseh (and are recurrable) and are universally applicable (rather than being straight counter-counters), offing Manasseh is extremely difficult. There are ways to Discard his Horses fairly easily, but that just takes him down from god-like to superhuman and is counter-counterable too. I know there's going to be a lot of TLDR, but I just needed to rant some more about how extremely powerful Manasseh is :D

wont habbakuk and john the baptist (and daniel when he releases) work as well?

i also find the last paragraph sorta funny, considering there is no way to guage what is commonly ran with manasseh this early.

I'm sure I'll get called a n00b for suggesting this, but I personally love the card:  The Lord Fights for You.  It destroys Magicians because they are almost always with another brigade (and many of them are multicolor), and they have little protection against discard.  And if all your opponent has in territory is Gates, Manasseh, and 2kh, they will have to discard 2kh, then Gates, then Manasseh (since it says evil card, not evil character).

If You gave Your life to love them so will I

Yea, but you will have lost the game in those 3 turns because Red is bad.

The first paragraph is humorous simply because the chances that ever happening are under zero percent.

I had forgotten Habakkuk negates protect forts. If he's CBN then he's probably the best counter to Manasseh. John the Baptist is redundant with Jeremiah, so I didn't feel the need to mention him too.

What does Manasseh do? The only listing of him in the REG is his ability-less Prophets version.

As STAMP would say, the chances are slim to none, and slim just parachuted out of the Choppa Gunna.

Ah, thank you both. I should have known by the GoJ usage that he would have the King title :P

Doesn't The Centurion at Calvary stop King Manasseh with 2kh? Or does the CBN'd from Gates apply to the 2kh too?

He does stop 2KH, but Manasseh doesn't rely on them to block.
