Top 3 Lost Souls post Liner?

Inspired by JD's post about weapons, I thought I'd start one for Lost Souls. What do you think are the top 3 Lost Souls in the game?

I've always felt that the "Wanderer" is among the elite Lost Souls. It was almost necessary post Liner ban, but still seems essential in the post Liner world because it fits in the O.T. theme and takes a lot of the top "meta" souls from the opponent.

If you can remember to trigger the "Dull" soul it will net you some valuable defense. Unless your opponent has played SoG and TSC already don't rely on the character you get for the current battle. A CBN/CBI Enhancement is going to be a reliable grab though.

I'm torn between "Covet" and "Prosperity" for the last spot. Both are extremely valuable and will make the cut in almost every deck I build. One reason both of them are great is that you get the benefit immediately. They don't suffer from the need to remember triggers, upkeep effects or hurt you if stolen by the "Wanderer".

It kind of depends on where the meta heads, which is pretty unclear at this point. I think humble will be in just about every deck, regardless of the meta, and I know I will be running Prosperity in most of my decks. If only OT souls become meta, covet will be one of the best, but if not, I'd agree dull will probably remain the best.

Exchanger is so good.. It's always the soul I wanted to fit in but wound up with liner instead.

I imagine prosperity will be in nearly every deck!

My top 3 favorites are probably:
Humble
Lawless
Imitate

These souls are so versatile and immediate.. Lawless then imitate Lawless for a few turns has a very strong snowball effect

Humble is arguably the best soul in the game. It can get you out of so many pinches at any given moment while rescuing or blocking.. I'm looking forward to see the interaction with the new FoM souls and Humble for sure

Agreed on that combo, it is nuts!

My top 3 would probably be:

Lawless
Destruction (or whatever it is called that discards enhancements)
Imitate

Not sure where to place the new souls yet until I try them out, but several seem really good 'Covet' and 'Prosperity' probably leading the pack in that regard.

Unless Moses CoW is a key part of my deck, I'm always running Dull LS.

I've been running Wanderer LS since it was released (even back when Thorns LS was popular for awhile). It's going to be tempting to replace Wanderer with Covet, but maybe  I just end up running both.

Using Darkness, Lawless and Prosperity in the same deck is going to be a thing if my playtest games are any indication. The possibility of starting the game with an extra 3 cards in hand is crazy good. Add to that the likelihood of being able to go second since you have at least 3 LS and you're talking about starting your first turn being 14 or more cards into your deck already. Yes plz.

I see my standard LS line-up looking something like this:
Dull
Wanderer (Could be Covet in certain builds)
Darkness
Lawless
Prosperity
Imitate
--deck dependent-- (Could be Covet, Humble, Punisher, Forsaken, Awake or even Escape)

Honorable mention to Forsaken LS for multi-player...such a strong way to affect the game even when you aren't being attacked.  8)

Imitate
Awake
Dull

In my humble opinion are the best souls due to value. Prosperity may edge out the Dull soul for me.

I will say that the one thing I've never liked about Wanderer is that the special ability text color had to be yellow in order to be seen. I'm guessing it would look really good on the new card face.  8)

I wondered how late NL it would take before someone caught that. Apparently nobody clicks on links ever since Rick Rolling became a thing.

I'm guessing the significant detail is that the "wanderer" is the 18th LR so now we have a range of books from I Samuel to Ezekiel that LR's 15,16, and 17 can be from.

We have a winner!  ;D Your prize is the following hint...

All 4 of the remaining Legacy Rares are from different books--fairly obvious that #6 was, but 15, 16 and 17 are also all from different books.  8)

Back on topic...

I have a hard time seeing Imitate as a top 3 LS. Yes, it’s really good at times in combination with certain souls but it does nothing of value on its own. It becomes even less valuable as decks include fewer N.T. Lost Souls. It may have been top 3 prior to FoM. It might still be top 7 in the FoM meta.

For its versatility and power, I would choose Humble as number 1. After that I think I'd go with Covet as an upgraded Wanderer (you get to see your opponent's deck and by process of elimination have an idea about what's in their hand as well), and Dull as #3.

I do love the imitate - lawless combo though!

I definitely get the 'cards must be strong on their own' perspective...and I will say that my perspective is 'Type 2 play only' skewed.  I just think that if you can fairly reliably get to a point in most games where you have the combination of cards that is extremely strong, you can't really judge them on their isolated power alone.

And I definitely know that if my opponent has 'Imitate' I will try to rescue it first almost all of the time.
