Title: Thinking about investing in a couple of boxes
Post by: SwiftxRedemption on September 14, 2015, 03:38:16 PM
So I am considering purchasing two boxes. What boxes would give me the most value? I am assuming EC and PC?

find some one who is selling their collection.  You will get much better value then any box.

That is true. You usually miss out on getting the newer cards that way though. Typically people selling their collection are not completely up to date so you might not get cards from the most recently couple of sets. You also miss out on the fun of opening packs. If you're simply looking to build up a collection quickly, or start a play group, this is definitely the way to go.

If you're looking more to acquire the newest sets, or to empower yourself to build a deck using clay, then one of each EC and PC is a great choice. If you want newer cards and don't have a good variety of the tin sets yet (Faith of our Fathers and Rock of Ages) then you might consider 2 EC boxes.

I agree with Gabe's assessment. We have boxes for $108 here...http://www.threelionsgaming.com/#!boxes-of-packs/covx (http://www.threelionsgaming.com/#!boxes-of-packs/covx)!

As far as value goes the Early Church is much more valuable than PC as far as the other cards you get.  The Kings cards have very good commons/uncommons like 2Khorses, and the banding heroes.  Then you add the tin cards which are awesome if you don't already have them, since you can get cards like AutO, Samuel's Edict, Samuel, Jair, Emp. Vit, and many more than you can add just to the I/J decks to make them so much stronger!  Not to mention that you get 5 EC cards compared to 4 PC cards.  Plus in the 3 boxes of the PC I've opened I've gotten many more Rares & Ultra-Rares in the EC compared to the PC, plus I've gotten several non-SA cards in the PC and you won't get those (except a purple Kings King Saul) in the EC packs.

For what it's worth I have a collection that I'd sell. It was active thru 2013. I'd have to spend some serious time trying to value it, but let me know if you are interested at all.

I certainly appreciate the offer. However, I am not really looking to buy a big collection. There are a few reasons for this. First off, I really enjoy cracking open packs. What CCG player doesn't? Secondly, I don't really have the space for a large collection atm. I've alsobnever been a big fan of having thousands of cards I will probably never use. I am much more of a player than a collector. And lastly, I want more of the new sets than others for a couple reasons. Most of the cards from the new sets are considerably stronger than older cards, and for the most part they have much more value. In short, opening packs from the new sets and buying some singles will be the major ways I build a small collection.
