Poll: Most imposing figure

I'm interested to know who you think is the most imposing good/evil character in the OT/NT. I'll just come right out and say that I think King David and Paul have O.T. Good/N.T. Good clinched respectively, but I'd love to hear you explain why I'm wrong and also offer some suggestions for the evil guys. I can think of Nebuchadnezzar, Ozymandias, Nimrod and Xerxes for O.T. and any of the Emperors for N.T., but I really don't know which I would give the crown.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Goliath doesn't make your list? Being so imposing that no warrior would challenge him seems to fit the bill.

It seems like Samson should be considered for good OT guy, but I do think David has that clinched.

Most imposing goes a little past just being strong (like your other poll) and also includes the intimidation due to the power of a person's position.

For good OT, I'd go with Moses.  He was everything (ie. infinite identifiers in Redemption).  The Pharaoh and his magicians were intimidated.  Even his own followers, the Israelites, were afraid of him and made him cover his face.  When he lifted his staff, rivers stopped, battles were won, and water came from rocks.  When he prayed, even angels stopped killing people, or the ground opened up and swallowed people.  That man was imposing.

For good NT, I'd have to go with Jesus.  I know that's cheating, but it's just true.

For evil OT, I'd have to go with Nebucadnezzar.  He was the leader of the most dominating empire of the OT times.  And on top of having that power, he was also a bit spontaneous (building statues, throwing people in furnaces, etc.) and for a time he was also insane.

For evil NT, I'd have to go with King Herod.  He wiped out everyone's male toddlers and younger in a whole area just to get 1 baby.  And he raised his son to grow up to be the kind of guy that cuts people's heads off for a dance, and steals his brother's wife.

But he's a giant-slayer, so "Big G" doesn't force him to withdraw...

LOL! me too. I agree that Paul should get N.T. talking about a guy that was known for killing Christians one day and then telling lame people to get up and walk the next. not to mention write almost all the N.T. itself! If one considers Moses an N.T character for popping up once (possible twice) then he get is because he definitely has the O.T. for Evil...??? Leviathan is scary (that whole part of Job), but was he really imposingly evil? like how much of God's work did he hinder of his own free accord? another one could be Jezzebel, but the others mentioned are great! N.T. I'd go with Red Dragon and other apocalyptic characters. King Herod was a beast too.
Can't think of something clever to say...sorry if you were expecting inspirational and/or witty...

A complaint of some brethren concerning Paul though was that his letters were strong, but in person he was not that impressive.  He was not an eloquent speaker, and his thorn in the flesh probably kept him "less imposing" than he otherwise would have been.

I'm not sure if John the baptist has been mentioned yet, but his appearance, his bluntness and his boldness would certainly be imposing to me personally.
