3:The draw mechanic is great as well.
4:The discard to 8 rule is also a balancer.
       5:The battles.

Post nazi time :police:
1. Not to nitpick but in MTG a 4/4 is huge
2. 0_0
3. no complaints there
4. same
5. Yes I looove not being able to block because my opponent uses garden tomb and set all my ECs aside for seven turns. That's great fun

And Magic is soo much better.  They don't have anything called swamp-walk, island-walk, or mountain-walk, right?

True... but all of those characters are lame sauce and wont kill your opponent very fast. Also the chances of you playing against mono deck with that one color is pretty slim at a tourney since there are what 5? Colors?

Time to rant some more...

       5:The battles.

1. This is why Redemption is sometimes FAR more chaotic then other games such as Magic or Lotr where there is the balance of playing cards at a cost.
2. This initiative system is nothing new and some games use it far better because other games do not have interrupt the battle or CBN cards.
3. The Draw mechanic is good to a certain extent the draw three yes that is great but... The way drawing cards can be exploited in Redemption can get ridiculous at times.
4. The discard to 8 is used in many games so that is nothing new.
5. The battles are very fun and fast paced but sometimes... They lose the old school flair that they used to have. Now with all of these CBN cards the game just isnt as fun as it was in the Old days when there could be like 20 cards played in battle.

Now im done with my rant.... Dont worry I still love Redemption ;D

There are cards (specifically in blue) that change land types. Walkers are not all that hard to pull out and even though they will take a bit to kill you they are in a color with WALLS.

I agree on 5 with Is. I love I play battle winner. Negate. Negate your negate. negate my negate that negated your negate.

The Draw 3 is basically needed in redemption because of how many card you need, the bigger problem is that its so easy to draw or search your deck that some think there is too much draw capabilities in the game.  Whereas in yugioh, for example, its much harder to draw cards but you don't need as many.

Most card games have a hand limit (at least the ones I know).

Most of these either are in other card games or wouldn't make sense in other games.  For example initiative wouldn't make sense in yugioh, but its the only way redemption works.  The lack of cost has both advantages and disadvantages, yes to a redemption player strange that you have to pay costs to play cards, but in MTG the cost system is part of the basis of the game and one of the reasons why it is still doing well today, it balances cards, so rather than just making cards that are better (like adding CBN to search) when they make cards with better abilities they add more to the cost so its not just better.

I think negate wars get old fairly quickly, I would rather see things like Battle winner, ITB for a win, then Unknown Nation to bring in a new character and do a bunch of more stuff.

You say that now but if you played back in the day there were some pretty epic battles that would happen because of this. Banding was also a huge part of the game back then that was one reason why FBTN was so op'd.
I still have a old school deck that uses only apostles and under (and like 2-3 pats) and use it at tourneys sometimes. You would be surprised at how hard it is to kill a old school Ishbib, Saph, Goliath band or a Abi, Asahel, Joab, David band 8)

How old are those cards? The one thing about Magic is that they have different blocks you play with. This is one way the game balances its self out. If you have ever played with some pro expanded players the game is GG very fast because of all of the op'd combos.

Reason #6!

It says quite a bit about these forums that we can't even agree on why we love Redemption.  I know internet forums are designed for arguing, but C'mon!

I guess I should say why I love redemption just so that no one else thinks I am trying to bash the game, because I'm not.

I have had epic battles where it was all about mass numbers and such, that is with up to at the very least FooF, I was defending a genesis offense with the orange King of Tyrus, I think I barely won by the numbers.  Some of my favorite EPIC battles were with newer cards, you don't have to go back to negate wars to have them.

I do like the game design, especially the Rock, Paper, Scissors mechanic.

I love that unlike other card games I know, I don't have to buy singles to stay competitive or put probably hundreds or even thousands of dollars into it (yes I'm talking about you Yugioh)

I love the friends and how I can lose in an epic game with someone I've never met before and then after the game talk about how much we liked each others decks afterwards.  Forcing my opponents KoT to block with a 1/1 character and then proceeding to win the battle was one of my more memorable moves at Nationals in Ohio a few years back.

I won't give up playing this game as long as I enjoy it, even though I have some complaints (many of which are too late to change without rebooting the entire game) I still love the game
