Title: Standing in the Gap
Post by: BubbleBoy on March 28, 2010, 05:48:28 PM
I just wanted to say that Standing in the Gap is a very cool card. I first realized its coolness while helping YMT make a "typical" speed/TGT deck for his playtesters to practice on: We were trying to find ways to keep his TGT safe, and I happened to remember this rather obscure and underused card. I figured it would be a good add as both Jephthah and Peter were already honorable mentions in the deck, and five turns would be long enough to last all game most games with a speed deck. This is a great counter to Sitelock decks, one of the only ways to protect fortresses, and as an added bonus also protects from hand and deck d/c.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out how awesome this card is, and to let you know that I will probably be using it in every red deck I make from now on indefinitely. :)

I guess the fact that it's Red makes it not very widely known. It is nice for your Fortresses, but I'd say that it's even better as a way to stop your opponent from abusing Mayhem.

Seeing as Mayhem is a dominant and thus can only be used once, I don't think I would ever describe it as being "abused," unless you are speaking of physical abuse, which Standing in the Gap unfortunately does not protect from.
