In most friendly (i.e., non-tournament games) people don't force you to rip the card. (You would want to verify this with your opponent first, however.)

Boom! Each plot would be immediately limited to one use per event, and giving a gift to another player is more funner and fellowshipper than ripping a card will ever be.

The best is when you attack an opponent with Daniel and they play a "gallowed" plot thinking they just remove it. .

You have to rip it if you play it.There are no exceptions.

It keeps the card out of the trash for a while, and if you have 3 signatures of 3 winners, might be worth something to a collector
