Hey guys,
So after JMHartz got the ball rolling on type ban a while back, Kevinthedude and I finally had the chance to spend our Saturday afternoon playtesting. After some debate, we tried to keep our banlist as simple and objective as possible. Our ban list was as follows:
New Jerusalem/The Second Coming
Falling Away (WO only)
Mayhem
2/3 Liner (although neither of us have been running it much lately)
We also played to 4 souls instead of 5 as Hartz suggested. Anyway, here are some of my thoughts on how the bans impacted gameplay...
Without NJ/TSC and Mayhem, it was really nice to have some variety and flexibility with dom slots. I ran Grapes instead of TSC and Vain Philosophy replaced Mayhem. I was running a side battle EE so I heavily considered Strife. With the prevailance of YWR, I also wanted DoN.
No Mayhem made card advantage much more important which I think is a good thing. It also meant that we didn't have to be as concerned with hand size particularly at the end of turns.
Dom rushes seemed less significant because SoG only accounted for 25% of the win condition instead of 40%.
Games took about the normal amount of time.
That's pretty much it for now. I'm sure Kevin will want to chime in with his thoughts as well.
