Hello, recently I was playing redemption with my neighbor and I used a card that allowed me to discard his hero, who was making a rescue attempt. Can he present a new hero or does it count as a successful block resulting in the end of his turn

Discarding the hero essentially ends the battle. However, he gets to complete his turn with the discard phase.
