Borderless Awesomeness!

At our play group Friday night several of the players were already testing out the Fall of Man cards. Some used a piece of paper with the SA and/or card name while others had full print outs of the card images slid in front of a real card inside of a sleeve.

When I wasn't playing I was walking around checking out games. I ran across this and was impressed by how awesome the borderless "Wages of Sin" looks on the borderless Red Dragon!!!

Makes me feel like every card should take full advantage of the white space ;) is that Wages just printed out on cardstock?

I can't speak for that individual but I normally just print my play test cards on plain paper using a color printer. When cut to size and slipped in a sleeve they are indistinguishable (for game play purposes) in both thickness and appearance from cards without a piece of paper in them.

I did this some years ago with the Veggie Tales cards from TLG when Doug had it.

I was the one playing it. It's just a piece of paper over some other card, the old wages, I think.

all cards should be printed this way! Looks WAY! better! and (i know you all are going to disagree) when teaching new players, the random boarder colors wont confuse them.

I think if someone tells you that white border cards look better than full art cards you should recommend them glasses. Every card in the game would look amazing in full art.

I'm not disagreeing that pretty much any card would look great as full art, but personally I also love some of the awesome Alt-borders we've been able to do.

Here's an example of a card that would probably look pretty good as full art, but the Alt-border makes it amazing IMO.

I forgot for a moment that all cards are alt border now. I'll concede that some of the alt border cards look cooler than just full art, whoever picks the border art has been doing a pretty good job especially in FoM.

Doesn't mean the alt border couldn't go up to the edge ;) that would look even better :D

John, Gabe and I work together to come up with ideas for the borders, and Gabe is the one who tracks down images and pieces the cards together.  8)

Borders are added at the end of the process when cards are close to finalized. This being the first set to get alt borders during that window of time proved a little overwhelming. That’s 144 borders to
create! In the past all I had to do was click one of about a dozen pre-existing borders.

John really stepped it up this year and got software to help with graphics as needed. He was a life saver when it came to helping create the alt borders!
