PoC Phase 1 Box Opening Stats
« on: December 10, 2018, 10:29:23 AM »

I think we've had a thread like this for past sets so I thought I'd start one for PoC. My order came in this morning and I had to rip open a box before heading to work.

96 out of 129 unique cards
23 duplicates (2 are rare)
UR = Emmaus Road
Special UR = Three Woes

Notable rares - Moses, Aaron, Chariot of Fire, False Peace and Faith

Also got a Falling Away in the Women cards.

The odds seem pretty good of completing the set with 2 boxes. Nice.

Godspeed,
Mike

Without making trades you would need at least 3 boxes since only 1 of the new URs come in each box.

However, getting the "bonus" UR (Shipwreck, TSC or Woes) gives you a pretty good chance of being able to trade for the 3rd PoC UR (especially if you get Destruction in one of your boxes and only need Meal in Emmaus or Book of the Covenant).

3 boxes is an excellent starting point then. Thanks for the correction.

I should also note that the cards were all centered nicely. in the first print of Fall of Man I had several cards that were off center. I'm glad to see that has improved.

That's great to hear...I had that same issue with FoM and was concerned it would be an on-going issue.

My URs were Emmaus road and TSC. I didn't check how many duplicates I had, but I know I had quite a few. Most were common though, I only had 1 rare duplicate.

Centering was good for the two boxes I opened.  However, some of the cards are "fuzzy" - mostly the black lettering, but sometimes the picture too.  My copy of The Destroyer was probably the most visibly "fuzzy" of all the cards.

As to my results, I haven't catalogued everything yet, but with 2 boxes I got a lot of duplicate rares.  Fortunately, many of them were what I perceive as higher value rares - 3 King of Tyrus, 4 Faith, 2 Bab Merchants, 2 Chariot of Fire, etc.

URs were Emmaus Road, DoN, Shipwreck, and TSC.

0 duplicate Rares out of 22 - that's amazing!  The odds of that have got to be low.

For something a bit different, we just opened 3 of the PoC repack boxes from ethereal synergy. This is what we got:

1 DoN
1 Book of the Covenant
1 Emmaus Road

1 TSC
1 3 Woes
1 SW

2 of every rare except:

1 Chariot of Fire
1 Unknown Nation
1 Orphans LS
1 Exiles LS
1 Babylonian Siege Army
1 Faith

7 complete sets of commons with extras of the following:

1 Suffering Servant
1 Stumble LS
1 False Prophets
1 Conjurers
1 Stone Cut Without Hands
1 Lion's Den
1 Daniel's Guardian
2 The Bear
1 The Winged Leopard
1 Servants by the River
1 Trumpets in Zion
1 Ninevites
1 Micah
1 Out of Bethlehem
1 Habakkuk
1 Seized by Babylon
1 Betrayal
1 Malachi

Feels good to open all new cards in a pack.

Personally, using ESI's repacks for draft is a bigger draw for me.  Because his repacks still only have 1 rare/UR, you are basically paying a little extra money for 5 extra commons.  Some might want that.  It's not a big draw for me.

But drafting PoC/FoM/RoJ/CoW repacks, plus maybe 2 more regular packs of RoJ/FoM/PoC, would be incredible.

It is awesome that you pulled an even number of basically every card, when viewed by rarity.

Sorry for the delay, but I just got around to looking at my cards.  Purchased two boxes and I got 109 of the 129.  Was missing 2 ultra-rare, 10 rare, and 8 commons.  Got Emmaus Road and Three Woes in both boxes.

Looking forward to the Phase 2.

Update:  I have opened 4 boxes and still need 4 cards for a complete set (1 UR, 2 rare and 1 common).  Got 4 Three Woes.  The Book of the Covenant and Shipwreck must be very "rare" ultra-rare cards.
