My hubby and I just finished an extremely good game (I won of course ), however it brought up several questions about playing certain cards:

Division in the Church says: "N.T. Heroes my not enter battle this turn. Any currently in battle must retreat.  An O.T. Hero must be placed in battle or rescue attempt fails."  He was originally playing a red brigade N.T. Hero because I had the Lost Soul in a red site.  He then brought in an O.T. Hero of another color brigade.  Could he use that Hero since it wasn't the color of the site?

Leper says: "All Heroes currently in battle get Leprosy.  Heroes decrease 0/2 per turn.  If Hero reaches */0 or less, discard Hero".  I thought that meant that the leprosy and the decrease of abilities would continue throughout the rest of the game unless the Hero was healed.  My husband thought it was just during the battle.  Which of us is correct?

Unity in Christ says: "All N.T. Heroes must join the battle." I grabbed his N.T. Heroes and used them in battle.  I thought this meant they were treated as enhancements so they should be discarded after battle.  He thought they should be returned to his territory.  Which of us is correct?

And last, but not least, can I play a Character from my hand directly into battle or do I have to have it on the playing field?

Thank you for all you help.

Divisions in the Church:
He can use that hero, but the battle would be a battle challenge unless he gained access later in the battle.

Leper:
The decrease would start in his next upkeep phase (they don't decrease during that battle) and would continue until they were discarded or healed.

Unity in Christ:
This is a banding card, so the characters that are banded in remain characters.  If they survived the battle, they would return to their owner's territory.

You can play characters from hand straight into battle.
