Not so simple Immunity in the Islands Man

O.K.  I come out with Lydia and my opponent blocks with Locust

I play Unbowed (Immunity)

My opponent plays Lying unto God (Interrupt) and Devourer (Discard)

Initiative passes to me and I play Five Smooth Stones (Negate last enhancement played)

Total numbers on the board - My opponent 10/12 Mine are 11/9 but according to Unbowed I'm Immune making it 11/Inf

My opponent could not play another EE card but everyone ruled I couldn't play another Enhancement because initiative is always with the one losing by Immunity but in this situation became a stalemate thus I was not given initiative to play another card.

This was incredibly frustrating to me in the Islands here tonight.

Please give me those "DONT WORRY BE HAPPY MAN" feelings here on the Island tonight.

This was stalemate by #'s - right?  Pretty simple - thus the initiative is given to the EC due to me playing the last card (Five smooth stones) and if he (Locust) does not play an EE passes to the Hero?

Unbelievably ruled against me and to my way of thinking was pretty obvious.  Has looking at the Reg now made me see crooked?

im pretty sure that you have initiative anyway because, regardless of immunity, his strength is still greater than your defense.

However, im know for a fact that in a stalemate, if your opponent cannot play, he must pass. Therefore, you may play an enhancement, which would then pass initiative back to your opponent.

WOW - I was being too Generous and even gave him Initiative?  Unbelievably Stalemate rules get skipped COMPLETELY and then my own card (UNBOWED) used against me.  Our guys really have to be on the same page with the rules or Redemption becomes REVOLUTION - and this is bad in the Islands' man - Fidel Castro close by.  ;D

In this case, as Zardeck pointed out, this is a stalemate.

Quote
Stalemate

The battle is currently a stalemate when neither the Hero(es) nor the Evil Character(s) is being defeated. There are two ways for a battle to be a stalemate: by numbers or by immunity.

At this point, neither side is being defeated.  Whoever did not play the last card (your opponent in this case) has initiative.  If he cannot play, he must pass to you.  At that point, you may play a card or pass.  If you pass, the battle is over.

Now, if you had been winning by the numbers, even if his strength was higher than your toughness (let's say he was 10/12 but you were 12/9 instead), he has initiative automatically.  If he does not play, you do not get a chance to play anymore enhancements, as initiative does not pass back in a losing condition.  By being immune, your hero doesn't care that his strength is higher, and only the EC is losing the battle.  If he concedes, his EC is discarded and you win the battle, but no enhancements may be played on your side.

Does that help clear up stalemates?

Absolutely - yesterday - everyone got back on the same page - although we couldn't figure out how I had initiative and so this clears up what Lord Zardek posted earlier - thanks.  8)
