Newbie Question

My husband and I just started playing Redemption the card game and LOVE it.  We have the E and F decks.  We have some questions though:

When playing INTENT TO TRAP says " worth 6/6 if there are 2 or more evil characters in battle" is that an evil character (dragon) and an enhancement (skull)? or when would you actually be able to play 2 evil (dragons) characters at the same time?

Also, what happens after the battle to the opponents evil card when the SEVENTH TRUMPET turns an evil card into a hero from the White brigade?  Does it get discarded or does it get put back in with the heroes on the opponents side?

Thank you for your help.

The way it is possible for two evil characters (or heroes for that matter) to be in battle is by BANDING. If two evil characters are in battle by one banding to the other, the card you mentioned will give you more numbers than if just one is there.

When a character is converted, the same player who owned the card before the conversion still keeps it; it has just changed colors and (usually) whether it is a hero or and evil character. When conversion happens to an evil character in battle (like with the seventh trumpet), this typically ends the battle (unless an interrupt is played) and the former evil character, now a white hero, returns to the territory of its owner.

Welcome to the game! I recommend you check out the G & H decks next.  :)

Alright, another female player; cool! O0

For the future, a really good site to find out about abilities and what they really do is www.redemptionreg.com/REG, AKA the REG. Go to "Glossary of Terms" and then "Definitions" and you can find any term or ability you're looking for. :)

Thanks!  You are the best.  My husband finally came up with the banding answer today.  And that's what we were thinking happened to the evil character turned good, but wanted to be sure.

We will definitely check out the other site!

God bless you and happy gaming!!!

Also read and re-read the rule book. Many problems can be solved by that

Oh believe me, we've been re-reading the rule book and seem to pick up more and more each time we do.  I also forgot to say that I'll be buying the G and H decks this week. Which leads me to another question...are all the starter decks exactly the same?  I mean if I get a G deck and you have one, do we have exactly the same cards?

This game is so addictive! :)

Have a great day.

Yes, all G/H decks are exactly the same. Once you feel comfortable playing with both the E/F and G/H starter decks, the way to add variety is to get booster packs, which contain assorted cards from different expansions.

Thanks for the welcome!

We are from Sparta, TN currently.  I'm originally from Watertown, NY and my husband is originally from Ketchican, Alaska.  We ended up meeting here at church...now that's God for you.

Anyways...LOL...we already have tons of expansion packs (at least 4 times the size of the starter deck).  We bought them BEFORE we bought the starter decks...at the same time be bought Redemption the board game.  We really enjoy that too, but the cards are what we're centering on now. Tomorrow,  I'll be ordering the G & H decks and the Rock of Ages booster packs to split with my DH.  I'm working on ways to beat him in this.  Current score is Hubby 4, me 3...so I'm gaining on him.

Ya'll take care and thanks again for all the help.

Welcome to the Forums!  It is a small world, I live in Maryland now but I grew up in Newark, NY not too far from Watertown(2 hours) then moved to Syracuse area.  I just moved to MD recently, how long have you been out of NY?
In AMERICA!!

I moved out of Watertown, NY in 1997 after being laid off from the county (had worked there 10 years).  How'd I end up in TN?  Another testimony.  Definitely God..he opened up some major doors.  I love it here.  Syracuse is part of my old stomping grounds.  I still have friends that live there.  And yes,  if you haven't figured it out...we're 'oldsters (49 and 50)'...in body, but not in spirit.  I just bought some more booster packs today...and can't wait to trounce my hubby tonight. :D

My hubby and I only have furr-kids of the dog (4) and cat (9) variety.  We love games and he's always watching Yugio and such.  He currently playing Wizard101.com, so it's definitely not a stretch on his part. He's the older of us.  I think it's the mind set of people...they either get games or they don't.  I'm going to....uhmmm... adjust my deck today with the new cards I got yesterday.  Time to really slam the old hubby. :D

I don't know what other people think about this, but in my opinion, the Faith of our Fathers set is way above Rock of Ages in terms of how good the set is.  There are simply just better cards in FooF.  If you haven't ordered RoA I would highly suggest you start with FooF.  The tins in this set develop the different brigades and their themes better.  In addition, a lot of the cards created in RoA assume that you have the FooF expansion and simply builds upon the strategies from that expansion.

The only good thing (for beginners) about Rock of Ages is that it introduces you to special ability Lost Souls in a very concise way (since there is one in every tin).
Gates of Hell is by far the best card in the game.  No questions asked.
