My ideas for improving Redemption's look

I think Redemption is a great game with great potential and this is only constructive criticism/ideas for the look and layout of redemption cards.

1. Special abilities - I think there should be a place for special abilities rather than having it float above the card image. It could really look bad to a new player who is used to seeing the artwork. Maybe putting the sa in the verse box and make the verse small and italicized like flavour text?

2. Brigades - I think Redemption has been doing a great job as far as organizing brigades into themes/civilizations. One idea that I think would make the cards look really nice is if each brigade had its own background that every card in that theme would have (like the priests and demons do). Also, I would love if Crimson didn't look so much like Hot Pink.

3. Icon Box - I think if this was made smaller it would greatly improve the look of the card. Its not that important, but If I could change it, I would.

4. Artist Name - I really hate it when a card image is taken from goodsalt.com or such and have a really long artist name that overflows onto the verse box. TeP really improved this with smaller text, but the problem is still there. (ex: Lars Justinen/Goodsalt.com)

5. The Identifiers - Redemption has some identifiers that appear on lots of cards (ex: Generic, Male, Fought in Earthly Battle, and such) but others seem to have been put there as a result of boredom (The Garden Tomb - Empty!)

Anyway, those are only minor critiques, but I think they would help redemption look a whole lot better.

Thanks for reading,
Daniel

Eh... no. Basically you want it to look like all the other card games.

I like Redemption the way it is, thanks. Anyway, changing anything majorly would be a bad idea so far into the game. I like that Redemption has retained its basic layout from the beginning (over a decade), whether or not it's the best.

Hey,

2. Brigades - I think Redemption has been doing a great job as far as organizing brigades into themes/civilizations. One idea that I think would make the cards look really nice is if each brigade had its own background that every card in that theme would have (like the priests and demons do).

I hate this idea.  It totally ruins my background color decks.  Every time I see the background on a teal card it makes me sad.

There was a contest Gabe ran a few months back about new layouts for Redemption cards. Sadly, most of the entries, including the winner, were just using the existing layout but removing the border to allow for more art. Here are the entries.

redemption has needed a facelift and aesthetic makeover for years. you cant just keep serving the same template over and over and over and still garner the same amount of artistic appreciation as the game has in earlier years. change is good and should be embraced, rather than be shunned by those afraid of creativity and innovation. you're on the right track drb.

I like your ideas.  Redemption has changed over the years.  You already mentioned the backgrounds on silver brigade and the orange brigade.  I like this.  The identifiers were a great idea.  In the Priest set, rarity was also nice.  I appreciate the numbers in the newest set.
