Title: Most Rare
Post by: Daniel on June 14, 2016, 12:27:13 AM
What are the rarest/most expensive cards in the game?

Most expensive is Shipwreck from The Early Church, at $80.

Rarest is probably the 2015 (Knoxville) Glory of the Lord National Promo, due to lower attendance than 2014 and not being given out for multiple categories.

Thank you!

I am also curious what the most expensive card was at the height of the game? I seem to remember Faithful Servant going for at least $150.

Faithful Servant was valued at $360 at the very beginning because the only way to attain it was to sponsor a child through World Vision for a whole year at $30 a month. I can only verify that one sold for that amount. That was way before my Three Lions Gaming days though.

Actually I believe I sold the first and most expensive Faithful Servant promo. With the $360 sponsorship you could actually get 3 of them, making the cost of the card $120 each. That's the price Captain Kirk paid me for it when it was first released.

You could probably include Redemption play test cards in this discussion. I don't know what they sell for now, but they were selling for a couple hundred dollars each back in the day. I also don't know how many are floating around these days. I know of at least five, including the one that is framed and sitting on my self.  ;)

As for the rarest, coolest, most expensive awesome oddity, I have a signed Rob Anderson coffee mug that he used on a daily basis. I am almost certain he drank coffee from it when he worked on the early sets of Redemption. I value it at roughly $100,000.00  ;D

I'd have to think the most rare redemption "cards" are mostly error cards. But for most rare that are legal to play, I would add to that list the 1st print ultra rares from TEC. If I remember correctly, there were only 90 some of each ultra rare in the original printing.

That's why we should have 1st Printing put on the original prints of cards. That way when the second print erratas happen, you know which one is correct ;]

I ended up selling it within 3 months for $130. I don't recall seeing any go higher than that.

Like I said...

This deal was not done on the Message Boards but privately which is why no one was aware of it. I wonder where all the remaining Faithful Servant Promos are.

Are the faithful servant promos hard to get nowadays or are they extremely common?

They are only available on the secondary market. FS promo isn't widely used (though it could easily see a resurgence) so typically it's not hard to find someone willing to trade or sell one.

I only have three, so don't look at me...  ;)
