I just got into type 2 redemption games and just got a bunch of redemption cards to start my type 2 collection.

Out of all the Fortresses on this list which ones would other type 2 players recommend having at least 2 or more of , in any type 2 theme?

Missionary Ship

Fishing boat

Solomon's temple ( newest one)

Dust and Ashes

Goshen (Promo)

Wall of Protection

Judge's Seat

House in Bethany

Obadiah's Caves

Zerubbabel's temple

The Garden Tomb

The Throne of David

Stronghold in the desert

Chamber of Angels

Herod's Temple

Gates of Jerusalem

Rome

High Priest palace

High places

House of Rimmon

Areopagus

Philistine Outpost

the gates of Hell

Tower of Thebez

Headquarters at Riblah

Assyrian Camp

Pharaoh's throne room

2. In a type 2 Philistine defense would it be necessary to have at least 3 copies of Philistine Garrison in a type 2 deck?

3.  Would anyone recommend at least 2 copies of Promo Goliath and 4 copies of Philiy horse weapons in a type 2 deck?

thoughts?

Just because the T2 rules allow for multiple copies of a card doesn't mean it's a good idea. Duplicates of unique cards will get stuck in your hand, causing hand clog, which leads to discarding to get down to 8 at the end of your turn.

Fortresses like Philistine Outpost and Gates of Hell are the only ones I would consider running more than one copy because you can discard a copy to gain a benefit and then play a 2nd or third copy.

I don't think you'd need more than 2 Philistine Garrison in a T2 deck. With an Outpost and 4 Philistine Armorbearer you really only need one, but you may use a 2nd copy in case the first gets converted, removed from the game, etc.

Agree completely with Gabe, I rarely run more than 1 of a good fort, and then only if I REALLY need it.  Though that may change a bit with Shipwreck, honestly.  Since an NT deck with Herod's Temple really wants it up, and a TGT deck (more for multi) would like it active, unless you plan to only put it out when you can turn the lights on (put Lampstand up), you should at least think about a second copy (which also means you can get it earlier).  Think about, not necessarily take ;)

However, I want to point out that extra evil fortresses are GREAT Bronze Laver fodder, so they are not a dead draw if you are running what I consider to be an essential T2 artifact (at least one copy has found its way into every T2 deck I make thus far).  They also tend to get thrown out for any number of effects (protect other evil cards in hand from I Am Holy, for instance), so they are generally going to be more useful in duplication than good forts.

For example, my Canaanites in T2 have run 2 Towers at different times, though sometimes I cut one out (depends on my mood).  With Laver (and someone to search that out), it's not a dead draw to me and it really helps shut down my opponents and set up better CTB plays.  But as I pointed out, I sometimes cut down to 1 as well.

The best way to decide if you need a card is to put it in your deck.  If it sits in your hand for a couple of turns in a good portion of your games and you can't do anything with it, then cut it.

In my Brown Kings of Judah deck I used two copies of Gates of Jerusalem because that theme does not have a ton of drawing, nor a way to search out Gates.

In a solid Orange deck, Gates of Hell should be used x3, in a Orange/something else deck, I would use 2.

I've never done Philistines in T2, but would certainly use 2 Outposts if I did.

I think the only Good Fortress I've ever used duplicates of was Throne of David in a T2 MP deck, but that was in the days when Assyrians were running rampant and Siege Armies were always a threat.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Personally I'd never run 2 good fortresses especially the three (maybe four but I'm not sure ) ones that play to set aside
Praeceps keeps capturing my Peter.

Why not, is there a rule that you can't have more than one fort in set-aside area, if so I am not aware of it.

Very little hits good forts in territory, but slightly less affects those in set-aside since the default for abilities is "in play."  Therefore, the forts you set aside are generally going to be slightly more protected than those you just put in play, leaving you with more hand clog.

How would that affect hand clog?

Because if you have another copy of the fortress in your deck and you draw it you can't play it if you already have one out so it just sits in your hand.

Ok, this is why I play T1 mostly, there are so many cards in T2!

I feel like duplicates of fortresses that are admiral to certain strategies (The Garden Tomb, The Throne of David, etc) have become almost necessary with the introduction of Shipwreck but as Redoubter said, The Bronze Laver can help of you need to use to evil and I Am Holy can be nice for good forts if your opponent sinks something else.
