Misjudged Cards

So in the weeks leading up to Nats here, what FoM cards do you think were over/underrated?

Personally, I have yet to see a Gideon's Ephod, despite hearing how good it is in the weeks leading up to the set's release. Conversely, I wasn't particularly impressed by Envy, but saw it used to great effect at NC Regionals this weekend.

ANB is good. Change my mind.

Canaanites are ballers that was a big surprise to me. Those banding giant brothers are super solid.

I didn't think Babel would be all that impressive, but it has definitely lived up to its UR status. Running Babel and Punisher can really give the opponent a headache.  :o

I expected to see more people using Heart of Depravity, but so far I've only seen myself using it (quite effectively I might add  ;D).

Is envy only good for one use as territory class or it stays forever?

It places itself in territory, so it works as long as it is placed (and not negated).

My only qualm with Envy is that it puts 3 evil brigades on the table which means at best, I'm looking to keep my Babel X no higher than 4... :o

It stays until it's removed from play by another card.

How consistently are you triggering the triple bro withdraw? I've been trying them out in a pretty consistent deck but for a variety of reasons I haven't been in a situation where I both had the opportunity to do it and thought it was my best option. The rest of the black defense is looking pretty solid though.

I expected to see more people using Heart of Depravity, but so far I've only seen myself using it (quite effectively I might add  ;D).

I haven't even tried running it since my understanding is the only time it's better than just running the enhancement you end up getting is if you have at least two functionally unique evil enhancement in Reserve for it to get. How have you been using it effectively?

I've mainly used it in T2, but also a bit in T1. I can put situational battle winners in Reserve or something nasty like Besieging the City. It's also great for setting up magicians like Astrologers or Egyptian Magicians if played outside of battle.

I thought Rubble and Dust would be great because of its versatility but its pretty bad.

In fairness, I think it will become better as time goes by. I think part of the reason why it isn’t seeing much use is because people aren’t using as many cards that get placed, etc.  This could be due just to the fact that R&D is a possibility. Once that wears off and people are running more placed cards then it will see more play.

Not entirely true. I saw a game where two players got to discard a character in battle with R&D.

Since the cards came out, my thoughts have been pretty much unchanged and I haven't been surprised by anything.

-R&D remains too situational for T1

-Wicked LS remains bad while OT souls as a whole remain competitive

-evil Worship enhancements remain great (if underplayed)

-the Idols remain unplayed (but not unplayable)

-Flood Survivors remain formidable even with merciful ANB change

-Jehu is still stupid good (but no longer busted)

-the URs remain fantastic

-Lost Anointing remains unduly nerfed... :'(

Overall, very balanced set with not a lot of problem cards imo, even if I have my eye on one (still lookin' at you, Life Through Christ). For the next set, though, I would very much like to have a chase card or two on the level of TSC or Woes. Having only a couple cards that are super-rare and virtually impossible to trade for by comparative value alone is bad for the game. Another chase card or two drives the value of a set up and makes it potentially easier to trade for TSC or Woes or any other super-high-priced ultra-competitive card down the road.

Also, bit of a side-note; rather than a curse that struggles to be played, Overtaken should be remade as a LS ability. Oh yeah. 8)

I haven't been impressed honestly, I even cut from from my throne deck. Do you have a list he's been performing well in?

In a world where Children of Light could still draw, Lost Annointing would be a staple.

As it is, it's still a CBP battle winner you can play on The Strong Angel or Captain of the Host or Job's Wife or Foul Spirit or King of Tyrus.  8)
